Little Man

I am thankful that 27 years ago today a little man was born.
His lungs filled with air and he let out a cry that told us all he was strong and loved.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Boy. Your Mamaw loves you.

Children.
Gifts from GOD!

Psalms 139

13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! source

Are you giving thanks for children today?
Are you giving thanks to the Father who has allowed us to love and care for these precious little men and little women?
The privilege, the responsibility. the GIFT of introducing these little ones to JESUS is our greatest joy and our greatest accomplishment.
Amen and amen!

Your Pillow

I am still in Psalm 34. I’ve been to some other places in Scripture as well but I keep coming back to Psalm 34

Today it is this:

13 Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears are toward their cry for help.
16 The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
To eliminate the memory of them from the earth.

19 The afflictions of the righteous are many,
But the Lord rescues him from them all. source

I’ll be upfront with you. Verse 16.  I am eager for it!
But we aren’t there yet. We are closer than we were but we are not there today – perhaps soon!

So in the meantime, it’s the other verses I must concentrate on.
Evil x2. Deceit. Peace.
We are expected to keep our tongues from evil; our lips from deceit; turn from evil on every level and do good instead.
Isn’t it interesting that the next instruction is Seek peace and pursue it?
I submit to you that for us to seek peace, to pursue peace we MUST turn from evil AND do good.
That is not easy in this society BUT it is attainable – otherwise, we would not be instructed here to do so.

How is it possible?  Philippians 4:13.

And verse 19?
Take that one to your pillow.
Don’t linger long wondering why did this or that happen to me.
The Righteous have MANY afflictions. It’s just a fact.
That’s what HE said.
BUT HE IS RESCUING US!!

Good night, Friends.
Have a lovely evening – Peace and Rest.

Front Burner

Greetings, y’all!

It’s been a pleasant Saturday here in L. A.
Once again there is sunshine encouraging grass and trees to reach for the sky. Birds have sat in the Bradford Pear to sing a bar or two of praise; JT and I have offered some praise too.  We have a few fewer things in the attic; a motor covering has been removed and while looking for parts we had a lovely conversation via telephone with a new friend States and States away. There’s bread rising soon to be baked and Somebody’s team kicks off in just a little while.

And as icing on the cake, I am still feeding on Psalm 34

When did you last read this Psalm penned by David? A man with feet of clay – we all have feet of clay – we all have a story to tell. We all have victories and defeats but do we all consistently practice Psalm 34

So far the first two verses are on my front burner until my serve improves.

1. I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.  source

Do you see what I mean? Practice. Practice. Practice.

Harried and Helpless – Not!

Matthew 9:36 Complete Jewish Bible
36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  source

This is an avenue under construction; let me give you what I have so far.

How does GOD see people?

Clearly here He sees people who have yet to come to Him for salvation and relationship as sheep without a shepherd; as harried and helpless.
What is harried, anyway?

Harried people are marked by disturbance, distress, exhaustion due to demands, criticism, harassment.
Battered and buffeted. source

That’s well descriptive, isn’t it?

And helpless too.

Sheep without a Shepherd.

No wonder JESUS came.
He could not bear to see us without help and hope.

What is it like for sheep without a shepherd?

Allow me to list what little I know and then let me invite you to seek THE SHEPHERD for what more He has to say to you.

Sheep with no shepherd have
no protection from predators
no protection from the elements (wind, rain, heat, cold, etc.)
no help finding food or water
no healing from parasites, nose flies, and other injuries and diseases.

How does that translate to people without JESUS?

No defense against the accusations of the evil one
No shelter – no refuge from the coming storm, or eternal damnation because of sin
No Healer for all the harried-ness in this world
No Helper with the buzzing in our heads

What would you add to that list?

Do YOU have The Shepherd?

Is Psalm 23 YOUR Psalm?
