Rants

Approximate reading time: 2 minutes

Oh how we love David. The first king GOD chose for Israel.  He termed him:  A man after Mine Own Heart.

Even so this man we love and respect was so human; so like us Psalm 139.

Verses 19 – 22, David is pitching a rant.  I personally think in that moment he thought he was justified; even exhibiting appropriate behavior. But there were consequences. I think he recognized them. Following his rant he said:

Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart.
Examine me, and know my anxious thoughts,
24 and see if there be any offensive way within me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.  source

Here’s what I think. Lets try it on for size.

David had anxious thoughts. David was concerned there was offense in him. He was concerned he had offended GOD.

Is it possible that David’s ranting; his misplaced hate was causing his anxiety and his offenses?  We believe from the Whole Counsel of God that we ONLY get to hate sin; we do not have permission from God to hate people – even people who openly hate God.

Could it be our anxious thoughts stem from misplaced hate? Could it be that gnawing that we have offended God comes from hating someone(s) He has called us to love?

Just pitching that out for us to consider.

Reading, Hearing

Let us read and hear the Word of the LORD.

Psalm 116 World English Bible (WEB)

116 I love Yahweh, because he listens to my voice,
    and my cries for mercy.
Because he has turned his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
The cords of death surrounded me,
the pains of Sheol got a hold of me.
    I found trouble and sorrow.
Then I called on Yahweh’s name:
“Yahweh, I beg you, deliver my soul.”
Yahweh is Gracious and righteous.
    Yes, our God is merciful.
Yahweh preserves the simple.
I was brought low, and he saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul,
for Yahweh has dealt bountifully with you.
For you have delivered my soul from death,
    my eyes from tears,
    and my feet from falling.
I will walk before Yahweh in the land of the living.
10 I believed, therefore I said,
    “I was greatly afflicted.”
11 I said in my haste,
    “All men are liars.”
12 What will I give to Yahweh for all his benefits toward me?
13     I will take the cup of salvation, and call on Yahweh’s name.
14 I will pay my vows to Yahweh,
yes, in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in Yahweh’s sight is the death of his saints.
16 Yahweh, truly I am your servant.
I am your servant, the son of your servant.
You have freed me from my chains.
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and will call on Yahweh’s name.
18 I will pay my vows to Yahweh,
yes, in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of Yahweh’s house,
in the middle of you, Jerusalem.
Praise Yah!  source

Wash Your Hands

There’s another virus among us. One for which doctors have no test or vaccine. Click HERE for more information.

The doctor’s counsel?
Wash your hands.

Psalm 24:Who may ascend the mountain of the LordWho may stand in his holy place?  The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not appealed to what is false, and who has not sworn deceitfully.  source

James 4:Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded! source

I think the good doctor is on to something.

Let us wash our hands for good health – physically and spiritually.

Truth

Truth. Two Hundred Twenty Four times the word truth appears in the KJV of The Bible.  It’s important.

I want to encourage us today. I want us to know that truth prevails over lies. I want us to stand faithfully, patiently and wait for lies and falsehoods to fail. They will. Do not rail. Do not be afraid. Stand. Truth prevails. Wait. Believe and see.

Psalm 100:5  (KJV) For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. source

Psalm 119:142  (KJV) 142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth. source

Proverbs 3:3  (TLV) Let kindness and truth never leave you— bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. source

John 14:6  (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. source

John 14:17  (TLV) 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him. You know Him, because He abides with you and will be in you. source

3 John 4  (TLV) I have no greater joy than this—to hear that my children are walking in the truth. source
