Greetings on Saturday

A word from Melinda regarding her sister, Betty.

Hello, everyone!  Betty had an eventful day yesterday and a busy night.  She was Doppler-ed and ultra-sounded from head to toe, just missed the echocardiogram!  Saw all of her doctors…She started with the stress test yesterday morning and then had all her ultrasounds, didn’t get to eat until mid-afternoon.  They do not know where the blood is being lost and are doing tests to search.  Kidneys are working from 40 to 50%.  She did not have a heart attack but is going in and out of rhythm.  She is scheduled for a heart cath on Monday, don’t know time yet.  She had two units of blood yesterday.  Started late and was nearly finished with first unit when her IV blew and they had to restart in the other arm.  After the blood, each time, she had an one-half Lasix dose in her IV.  After both the blood and Lasix, she had the big bag of fluids.  I came home around midnight and she was just finishing her first unit of blood.  Needless to say, she and Mike (her son who spent the night) did not get much rest last night.  She told me this morning that they were going to let her rest this weekend to have more strength for her cath.  She is also getting IV iron once a day.  Hopefully, she will not have to have more blood this weekend but we are in “wait and see”  or “test and wait” mode! She is in pretty good spirits and that helps.
Please pray for her and for her doctors to have the skill and wisdom to heal her.  Pray for strength to get through the cath and for the answer to the blood loss.  And thanks for all the prayers you have already prayed on her behalf.  How much they help!  Love and prayers help more than most people realize.  And I am grateful for every one, as is Betty and family.
Also, please remember Tommy and Raye.  She has had to go back to the nursing home and is not doing very well.  Tommy is just barely getting around; he is not able to walk or move well at all, but is at nursing home with Raye every possible minute.  They need our prayers, too.  Thank you, God, for listening and answering our prayers.
Thanks for all your concerns and replies.
Love to all,
Melinda

And a personal request from me for my daughter, Andria. She’s the one I call Little Girl. She is really sick, has been to the doctor this morning and is none the better. I covet your prayers for her.

Thank you,
Kathie

Keepsake Memories

As I sit to write for our Friday time together what I am purposing to write may not come across as one of the most spiritual post I have offered here.

I’ve been doing a little sorting and discarding in my office today. And as blessings would have it I came across a book entitled Keepsake Memories – most of it is blank. Blank not because there have been no keepsake memories to record but because the book was swallowed up like files on a desktop – out of sight, out of mind.

Allow me to share with you a memory from it’s much too few pages.

It is dated June 22, 2003. No doubt other things have happened that are worthy to be written in this book. Such as the formation of the IDOK Ministry which I don’t remember just the day it came to be as it just kinda grew to be sometime in April, May and June of this year. And there have been sweet times with my babies. Yesterday was one of those days with Jeffrey and Joshua. What a delightful time. We woke up, had some breakfast and I told Jeffrey I needed one hour to study and then I would devote time to them. I set the alarm clock for one hour, gave it to Jeffrey and told him he was keeper of the clock. He and Joshua played so quietly and wondrously did not interrupt. When the hour was up, Jeffrey came to me with the clock. We dressed and went out for a walk. We played on the bluff, we went down to the water. Joshua did so well with the many, many steps down to the pier area. We played ball, even chucked pine cones to see who could throw the farthest. We watched as the green ones sank out of sight in the bay. It’s a beautiful park and lended so well to our imaginary adventure. Jeffrey was Captain of our scouting expedition and guided us so well back to the USS Mamaw (that would be our second floor condo apartment).  Oh, LORD, I am so blessed. Thank You. The three of us paused to pray on the bluff to say thank you to JESUS.

And one more.

It’s dated March 6, 2004.Isabel, Joshua and Jeffrey were here. Andria and Tim were helping Rosalie. Aside from running over the bathtub and soaking the carpet, the most memorable event was Isabel. What a delightful toddler she is! I found her perched ever so correctly in my chair with my glasses seated squarely on her nose and her hands poised over the key board. She was ready for work. Oh what a sight!

Why am I sharing this with you? I don’t know. It just seems right. It seems right to encourage myself and to encourage you to record your memories while you can. While they happen and while you remember.

I think I’ll not allow this little book to be swallowed up again. Jeffrey is 16 now but surely there will be noteworthy memories to record when he visits. Surely Josh has witty and cheek wetting things to say to me in days to come. And for sure Isabel will give me belly laughs that I will need to read again and again when I’m — I was going to say 64 but that’s not so far away. :) You do catch my intent though I’m sure.

Perhaps this post fits well with my continuing on-line study regarding legacy – leaving a godly legacy. Could Keepsake Memories serve as a means of legacy? I think so.

So are you inspired to record those witty, belly laughing, cheek wetting moments? I hope so.

Today I am convinced it’s important. Important for me and important for those I leave behind.

Ephesians 5: (New International Version, ©2010) 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

I suppose as relates to this post I’m saying the days are evil because they pass so quickly.

ABBA, not sure what You will do with this post when it reaches their screens but this I know I am grateful for Keepsake Memories to remind me how blessed I am; how good You are; how good You have been and without a doubt will continue to be to me — to all Your children. Thank You. Thank You. And in this moment I pray for our IDOKs that we will indeed redeem the time, for Your glory and for the good of those we love. I pray now too for our Praying for These. Thank You that Mileigh is home. Thank You for Cooper’s safe delivery on January 20. And in all our pending matters, we trust You. You are faithful. You are wise. And we declare we are safe trusting You with all these. IDOK Troops too. Thank You again for this ministry, grow it as You will. And HOLY SPIRIT above all things I think bring us to revival for JESUS Name sake. Amen and amen.

Until Then + + +,
Kathie

An Evening Prayer Request

Please pray for Miley. She is a sick little girl at USA Women’s and Children’s. There’s a tender family history here and I’d rather not give the details, please just pray for Miley and her family. They are a close knit family and when Miley is sick they all hurt.

Thank you so much.

See you in the morning with What Can I Say?

Kathie
