Independence Requires Dependence

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, JULY 4, 2008

In the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence you will read: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator”. . . . Endowed by their CREATOR. That is beautiful. We have a CREATOR! We are not accidents, not a bang and poof here we are. We are an INTENTIONAL ACT brought about by our CREATOR. This is good!
And in the last paragraph we read: We, therefore, the representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world . . . . To whom did they appeal? To whom did they petition for assistance in the great endeavor to be independent? THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD. That is a ‘mouth full’, folks! Our Creator IS THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD! I believe these drafters and signers of the Declaration of Independence were saying we may judge some things and we have judged some things to be unfair, unjust, un-called for, and down right unacceptable and we believe these judgments are in agreement with the judgments of THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD. And so we are appealing to Him for His help! What a concept! What a brilliant idea! Lets do it again! Lets appeal to THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD on behalf of America. Lets appeal to THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD to make us independent! First and foremost lets petition Him to set us free from the ravages and slavery of sin and the continual practice of it. And then lets get practical here for the good of America and pray to be independent of the tyrants and dictators who are strangling us with foreign oil and other products.
And the last sentence reads: And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor. Oh my! Do you see that?! For the support of this declaration, with a FIRM RELIANCE on the protection of DIVINE PROVIDENCE. Do you see what I see? These drafters and signers of this Declaration of Independence knew if this ‘independence’ was going to work they had to have the support of The Creator, The Supreme Judge of the World, Divine Providence and they were determined to place FIRM RELIANCE in and upon HIM. Not only that, they EXPECTED Him to protect them and this endeavor. They expected Abba to help them. AND HE DID!! Oh my! We need some of this determination, resolution, Firm Reliance and expectation for a worse tyrant than the British Crown that is now trampling America. This tyrant is far superior in power and maliciousness that the British Crown. This tyrant is working from within to shackle and enslave us. And heretofore by our tolerance and complacency we are helping him bring down this Nation that God birthed! Who is this tyrant? I’d say he is not one that we can see with our physical eyes. However, if we exercise the Wisdom of THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD, we can discern the folks who are in league with him and we can refuse to vote them into political office or other places of leadership.
I want to celebrate the 4th of July and I plan to with food and fun. But I think the most patriotic thing I can do on the 4th of July and every other day is to Petition THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD for mercy and present myself to Him as a vessel or conduit of His Holy Spirit to proclaim the Gospel which will set the captives free if they will believe!
I want to show you one more thing in the Declaration and I will hush for today: we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor. Christian Church, it is our privilege and responsibility to do this: to pledge to each other to give our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor for our Creator, King, Judge, Lord and Father who re-birthed us and birthed the United States of America for the furtherance of HIS GOSPEL. Now is the time for the Bride of Christ in the United States of America to sound this alarm: We have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is THE SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD hates Sin and will NOT tolerate it forever. The good news is He LOVES the sinner and He will forgive every repentant Sinner.
The First and Foremost Eternal Declaration of Independence:
Luke 4:17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18 “ The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” Amen and Amen LORD JESUS! You are the GREAT LIBERATOR. Thank You for our freedom from the slavery of sin and eternal hell. Thank You for birthing the United States of America. Thank You for the men and women who lived before us that loved You and believed You. Forgive us for our back-sliding. Forgive us for our don’t care attitude about the rampant practice of sin in America and if not a don’t care attitude; at least a fear that keeps us from speaking up. Abba, help us celebrate real liberation and independence. I know we can do it if we will be fully and completely dependant upon You. Lord, we are; some just don’t know it. We can’t even take our next breath without You; none of us; not even the atheist. Abba, You are so AWESOME. I want You to show Your Glory to this world and I want to take part in You doing that. Thank You. Particularly bless our IDOK Troops on this 4th of July. Send them messages of our appreciation and protect them Father in mind and body and spirit and please bring each of our IDOK Troops home safe and sound. And on this day of celebration we would not forget our Sister Israel and we pray for Her Peace. We pray too for these listed here. I can think of some listed here who are in the worst of bondage – slavery to sin and I am praying now Abba that You will have mercy and You will yet rescue them. Punching a Time Clock

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, JULY 3, 2008

I really don’t like time clocks. And those of you who know I am not steadily gainfully employed might say, “Kathie, what are you talking about? You don’t punch a time clock.” That’s just it, I do. And I hate it! I hate it because I do it so badly. I am constantly chiding myself for the way I spend time. I am constantly reproving myself because I don’t get enough done. I am a cruel, cruel taskmaster over me. And you know what? It’s not helping and it’s not working!! Hating this time clock in my head is not bringing out the joy in me. Wonder if I made friends with it, would it help? Wonder if I would find some joy in that? What do you think? Any ideas? How do you all manage time? What are your thoughts? Seriously. Email me and share your thoughts with me – that is if you have time. How do you schedule time? What are your priorities? Who or what eats the majority of your time? What’s a typical day for you? Do you have typical days? Is there a pattern in your time consumption? I’m just asking. You don’t have to answer me (but I really wish some of you would). But even if you don’t respond to me, do you think it would help if we answered these questions between Abba and us? Just a thought. Now lets see how much time do I have left in this hour?
Let me now share with you a way I spent some of my minutes today – reading again in 3:16 by Max Lucado. This comes from Page 110 and the last sentence from page 112.
Adam and his descendants will do it again. “[God’s] servants shall serve Him” (Rev.22:3 NKJV). What is service if not responsible activity? Those who are faithful over a few things will rule over many (Matt. 25:21).
You might oversee the orbit of a distant planetary system . . .design a mural in the new city . . .monitor the expansion of a new species of plants or animals. “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end” (Isa. 9:7 NKJV). God’s new world will be marked by increase. Increased planets? Colors? Music? Seems likely. What does a creator do but create?
What do His happy children do but serve Him? We might serve in the capacity we serve now. Couldn’t earthly assignments hint at heavenly ones? Architects of Moscow might draw blueprints in the new Liverpool. We will feast in Heaven; you may be a cook on Saturn. God filled His first garden with plants and animals. He’ll surely do the same in Heaven. If so, He may entrust you with the care and feeding of an Africa or two.
One thing is for sure: you’ll love it. Never weary, selfish, or defeated. Clear mind, tireless muscles, unhindered joy. Heaven is a perfect place of perfected people with our perfect Lord.
WOW!! That was well worth an investment of time. What a thought! A certain Draftsman, drafting in the New Heaven and New Earth. I love it!! I think he will too! And now for the last sentence – couple sentences. Jesus is preparing for you a place. A perfect place of perfected people overseen by our perfect Lord. And at the right time He will come and take you home.
And I see a promise in this that I believe is supported by Abba and this I said to Him: Not ONE of Yours dies untimely, do we, Lord?
I believe His answer is No, My Little One, not one!
Oh Abba, You are so AWESOME! And this Perfect Place You are creating for each of us — thank You. As to earthly time consumption and time clocks in our heads and idle hands at the wrong time and busy hands at the wrong time – this is not challenge for You. You have it covered and I am waiting on You for the cure. I may not be the only one. Thy Will be done. Redeem America Lord by waking up Your Church. I think You are about that – Abba don’t let me sleep through what You are doing. Don’t let me miss anything You want to work out in this world through this frame, soul and spirit You purchased by the Blood of Jesus. I love You Abba. Your Plan for me is coming together and I am delighted. You are doing it for other IDOKs too. I know You are. May they rejoice too today. Bring Israel to Your Peace. Protect our IDOK Troops today; provide all their needs and bless them with Your Holy Presence and bring them home safe and sound and more in love with You than when they deployed we pray. That Day!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 2008


I dare say all of us have heard and agree a Day of Judgment is coming. Even for those of us who have placed our faith in the Blood Sacrifice of Jesus Christ to be sufficient to save us and keep us from the penalty of eternal damnation, we know an accounting is due us. Right? And these verses confirm that. Romans 14: 10 . . . For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5: 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
And then we read this Scripture I Corinthians 1: 8 And He will establish you to the end [keep you steadfast, give you strength, and guarantee your vindication; He will be your warrant against all accusation or indictment so that you will be] guiltless and irreproachable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
And maybe we wonder, is there a contradiction here? No. Absolutely not. There is NO contradiction in The Word. So what is Abba saying here? Will we be blameless, guiltless and irreproachable on THAT DAY? Or will we give an account of those things we have done and of those things we have not done as we lived here on planet earth? Both! Here’s your key. I Corinthians 3: 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
The Blood Sacrifice of Jesus Christ is sufficient. It is sufficient to eternally save us from eternal damnation. It is sufficient to guarantee that before The Father we are completely hidden and covered in the Righteousness of The Son, Jesus the Christ. And standing in Him we are and shall forever be blameless, guiltless and irreproachable before the Throne of God our Father.
However, that is not the end of the story. Jesus our Saviour will be looking at what we did and did not do during our time here on planet earth and when we are before Him we will surely have some regrets. As we take our place in front of Him, we will surely grieve that we did not do more and better. I am trusting that none of you are saying ‘as long as I am in the position of Righteousness before God the Father on the throne, I don’t care if all my works burn; at least I’ll be in Heaven and not in hell.’ My dear one if that is the real thought of your heart, stop right now and repent. Stop right now and again go over the day you count as the day You were introduced to Jesus as your Substitute. Go over it carefully until You are Sure you have truly received and accepted Jesus as your very own personal Saviour.
Yes before Abba we are pure and spotless but at the Judgment Seat of Christ BEFORE we the Bride are seated at the Marriage Feast, our ‘works’ will be tested. OUR WORKS will be tested. Jesus’ work on our behalf has already been tested on the Cross and He passed. His Resurrection is Proof! So by all means, count on His Resurrection for your standing before Father’s Throne but when it comes to Heavenly Rewards, we better ‘get our act together, quick’!!

Father God, we can only say Thank You. Lord Jesus we can only say Thank You. Holy Spirit we can only say thank You and we are counting on You to motivate us and move us to ‘get our act together’ now. Abba, I am praying for Edie. I can only imagine what she is thinking and feeling. You know and You can help and we ask You now to help. Give Edie the very best report You can. Give her the very best recovery You can. Give her the BEST Lord. And we ask that for Bernie and for Steve too. And others listed here. And we pray for Brad; soften his heart to doing Your Will especially concerning his life with Tressa. And for Tressa we pray for courage and wisdom. For Israel we pray for Peace; for our IDOK Troops we pray for complete safety in mind, body and spirit. For America we pray for repentance; for Your Church we pray for revival and for the election of an American President we pray for Your Will to be done. Amen and Amen in Jesus Name we pray. Tye B.
