IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2008
We have the power to proclaim the Good News! Do you ever feel like I do? Timid about confronting people with the Gospel. Here at the computer screen I have no problem; it’s the face to face with store clerks and waitresses and people in check out lines and waiting rooms that I have often shied away from. And I am not saying that every one of us must proclaim by mouth the Gospel to EVERY soul we meet on the street. But on those occasions as you are sitting there waiting and a conversation with someone begins, if the Holy Spirit has already prepared that one for some ‘seed sowing’ wade on in – Our Lord will empower you! This is what Jesus said just before He ascended back to Father:
Acts 1: 4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
And He kept His promise; a reading of Acts 2 and we see the HOLY SPIRIT came upon the Church and at each of our salvation moments, He came to US – we are empowered for ANY task we are privileged to receive from Him.
And one more beautiful passage and we are closing this morning:
Acts 2: ‘ And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the LORD
Shall be saved.’
The Last Days are here my sisters and brothers so in the power of the Holy Spirit and at His Direction go and prophesy, both Sons AND Daughters! We have our mission and we are GLAD!!
Father, You have delighted me so this morning! Thank You. Thank You for Your Word – Your Sons and Your Daughters say prophesy! Thank You that You have and You Are and You Shall Continue to empower us to prophesy Your Gospel to the world and not just to the world but our next door neighbors! And Lord that is were I need the most help and I am by Your Grace moving forward. Thank You Lord, thank You.
This morning we are thinking of Allison and we are praying for her complete healing; and we are continuing to pray for the Kinard Family as they celebrate the life of Lyndee and grieve this temporary separation. We know You are with them today. Thank You. And for these others we know You have a plan and it is good and we pray Thy Will be done.
For our IDOK Troops we praise You for their health, safety and protection in mind and body and spirit. We praise You for their safe returns home. We petition for grace and mercy for America; for space and grace to repent. We pray for this presidential election that Your Will Be Done. Bless and Protect Israel, bring Her to the Peace You desire for Her. Correct and revive Your Church and today, Father, I pray Your Mercy, Grace and Peace over each and every IDOK; that each of us will KNOW Your Sweet Presence today and be filled up with You in Love and Power for Jesus sake.
