White Horses

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2009

Those little interruptions that are like a grain of sand in your tennis shoes can quickly become precious memories – enjoy them early!

White Horses

I have this song playing in my head this morning and now for you via YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWSATpx7uzk&feature=related

The Days of Elijah – There’s no god like Jehovah.

A prophecy of His First Coming: This one we have seen with the eyes of faith.

Zechariah 9:9 “ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!

Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your King is coming to you;

He is just and having salvation,

Lowly and riding on a donkey,

A colt, the foal of a donkey.

A prophecy of His Second Coming: This one we see with eyes of faith as well BUT when we mount these horses following Him our faith will have become sight!

Revelation 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.

13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

And we say, Even So, Come, LORD JESUS! But until then:

John 4: 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

Now don’t that get your weekend started?!

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Roy still has an infection and has been running fever. It has gone into his neck and shoulder, too. He is also nauseous a lot and has gotten dehydrated. Julee took him to MDA in Houston during the night Wednesday. They gave Roy an IV with antibiotic. Julee said the hospital is packed and they don’t even have a real room for him yet and they are in a room in the ER. She said even the parking garages are full and she had to park on top of the 2nd building. Please pray for Roy and Julee

Kathie, Jerry, please pray. My brother Rudon was told yesterday he had cancer and was to see the cancer dr. Thursday, 16th. Mirlean says it is serious and I am asking you to send this to all of your IDOKs. We love you as always, Roye.

ABBA, I am finding it a challenge to go from riding on a cloud to Roy and Julee in a hospital ER and Rudon with cancer. Only You can reconcile these extremes in our emotions. We long to ride those white horses; I long for the day when You will rule this planet in Your Flesh and Bone Body from Your Throne in Jerusalem. I long for the day when Your Peace will be the Rule here; when sin will not praised and strutted in the streets. Oh, I long for those days when the earth will be ‘garden of Eden’ all over the planet but until then, Holy Spirit, please put me to good use in the here and now. My words are still failing me for Roy and Julee and Rudon and all these listed here, but I am picturing You, LORD, being moved with compassion upon them; You, LORD, in hospital rooms with them; You, LORD, in every place they are undergirding and giving strength and yes even in the strangest of times giving laughter. You are so gracious to give us this ministry; thank You. Please again today protect our IDOK Troops; please again today have mercy on America and pour out lavish conviction and grace and space to repent. Please again today give Your Bride a holy desire to be faithful to You; please again today give open doors and anointing to Your Saints carrying the Gospel to people ready to hear and this I ask in the Matchless, Eternal Name of Yeshua. Amen and amen.

Flapping

IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2009

This morning Joyce said: ‘You don’t need wishbone, you need backbone.’

Matthew 18:

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,

3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

I am spending a little time today with The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning and I am again reminded even more acutely of something I have ‘preached’ and have often failed to practice. We readily see what’s wrong with this picture: Luke 18: 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’

But do we see the fallacy of this? (Page 53 of the aforementioned book) . . .to those of us fretting and flapping about our human weaknesses and character defects.

I confess I am not familiar with the word flapping as used in this context but it really does mean: to become upset or flustered. And how often have we become upset and flustered with being human as if it were a bad thing? I recall a time, some time ago, that I even said aloud that I don’t like being human because it means I’m not perfect. And you know what comes to mind in this moment? ‘Get over yourself, Girl!’ ‘Stop your ‘flapping’ about being imperfect and just love yourself warts and all simply and solely because Jesus does!’ Would not that FREE us to love Jesus and others more or what?

Manning also said: “The kingdom belongs to people who aren’t trying to look good or impress anybody, even themselves (emphasis mine). They are not plotting how they can call attention to themselves, worrying about how their actions will be interpreted or wondering if they will get gold stars for their behavior. Twenty centuries later, Jesus speaks pointedly to the preening ascetic trapped in the fatal narcissism of spiritual perfectionism, to those of us caught up in boasting about our victories in the vineyard, to those of us fretting and flapping about our human weaknesses and character defects. The child doesn’t have to struggle to get himself in a good position for having a relationship with God; he doesn’t have to craft ingenious ways of explaining his position to Jesus; he doesn’t have to create a pretty face for himself; he doesn’t have to achieve any state of spiritual feeling or intellectual understanding. All he has to do is happily accept the cookies: the gift of the kingdom.”

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Please add Allison and Gracelyn for a few days–they both have the flu AND strep and the wedding is just over two weeks away. HELP, LORD! Also, please pray for me to continue to be able to walk and to work in getting this wedding done. Melinda.

To happily accept ourselves solely and simply because You have, what a concept, ABBA. And to do otherwise hinders us from the process of being conformed to Your image, doesn’t it, LORD? And we do want to be conformed to Your image; it is the only way for us to do this thing called life for Your Glory. Give us a healthy understanding of this message and help us embrace it as You desire, I pray. We add Allison and Gracelyn, their health and the wedding, asking that You attend to them and that You attend this wedding and that this pending marriage will be to Your Glory. We pray too for others as listed here, each having a need that only You can attend to and we thank You that You are willing and able and are attending to all of us as a loving Father cares for His beloved children. May we respond to You today as beloved children, who adore their Father. May we respond to You today as saints worshipping our God and Savior and LORD. I don’t know what is before any of us today, but whatever comes help us accept Your Will for us with grace and faith. Comfort and protect our IDOK Troops I pray. Be merciful to the lost, lavish them with Holy Spirit conviction and grace to repent. Give vision and courage to we the Church and prune and purge us that we be Your Spotless Bride. Amen and amen in the Mighty and Matchless Name of Yeshua.

More On Anger

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2009

After looking at some of the Scripture passages containing the word anger, I looked up the word in my Hebrew online Lexicon. The word anger in Hebrew is @a; transliterated as ‘aph meaning nostril, nose, face, anger. Can you visualize anger? Red faced, nostrils flaring; yep that looks like anger to me. @a however comes from another Hebrew word: @na, transliterated ‘anaph meaning to be angry, to be displeased, to breathe hard. With either word used anger is a strong emotion that affects the body, particularly the face. It may cause us some discomfort to think about it, but Jehovah has been described in Scripture as having become angry at times.

In the KJV it is not until Exodus 4 that we see ABBA angry. 14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. So what was it that caused God to become angry with Moses? We might say because Moses was arguing with Him, but I don’t think that is it. I think it was unbelief. God called Moses to a task and Moses did not believe God knew what He was doing when He called him. Maybe we don’t want to think of God taking a hard breath; but maybe we should. Maybe unbelief is more serious than we would like to think it is. Maybe our unbelief affects God more strongly that we want to think about.

Then I moved from the Old Testament to the New Testament, looking at the same word: anger. In Greek, the word anger is ojrghv, transliterated Orge and in part means: anger, the natural disposition, temper, character; movement or agitation of the soul, impulse, desire, any violent emotion. But there is more, if we keep running those words until we come to the root word, the root word is ai[rw, transliterated Airo. What is so gloriously interesting about this word is that ai[rw is the same word used in John 15:2

2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Taketh away (ai[rw). And what does it mean? To raise up, elevate, lift up; to raise from the ground, take up: stones; to raise upwards, elevate, lift up: the hand. And my favorite one: to take upon one’s self and carry what has been raised up, to bear.

Mark 3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Do you see what I see? Do you see that our LORD’s anger moved Him to benevolence? Do you see that His anger moved Him in that Holy purpose of offering to raise them up, to elevate them, to bear them up? But they would not. Do you see that He in His anger at the hardness of their hearts was grieved and was offering to bear their sin for them? Yet they would not.

What is my conclusion? Glad you asked. Our anger rightly handled will move us to benevolence. It will move us to lift burdens, to offer to bear up another. Even anger that causes our face to redden, our nostrils to flare, our heart to race and our breathing to be labored; even then we are expected to let our anger out in acts of benevolence.

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Roy is not progressing as family had hoped; they are requesting that we continue to pray for him and Julee too. Sparky is progressing wondrously, but he covets our prayer.

ABBA, I appreciate this message; I appreciate receiving it and I will appreciate appropriating it; to see You do this in me will be a delight. Make it so, LORD. And make it so for our IDOKs too and every willing Reader. We are sad about Roy; only You can help him; his condition is too much to bear alone and Julee too; it’s too hard to watch and wait; so I pray for them to receive Your Strength and Your Peace and LORD improve Roy’s condition, lessen the nausea, lessen the pain and remove the infection I pray. Thank You for Sparky’s speedy improvement; please keep it coming. And we pray for all the others listed here too; for them to know Your Peace and Your Strength in whatever circumstance or condition they are experiencing. Please protect and keep safe our IDOK Troops and bring each of them home, safe and sound.

Thank You for this ministry; thank You for allowing us to gather together each day; thank You for allowing us the privilege to pray and we pray that we will be fervent and effective pray-ers. We continue to be concerned for America, for the leaders who have not given themselves to You for wisdom or holiness and we pray for space and grace for them to repent. We pray for mercy, we pray for Holy Spirit conviction. We pray men, women, boys and girls will cry out to be saved. And we pray that we Your people will be ready, willing and enabled to speak and demonstrate Your Gospel to them in the Mighty and Holy Name of our Savior Yeshua. Amen and amen.

Quotes

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2009

Joyce (Meyer) gave me a really good definition of compromise on Monday: doing just a little bit less than what you know is right.

And this morning I woke up with this one; it’s more of a prayer than a quote: If You are not angry about it, help me not be angry about it.

I spent more time than you need to know being angry about some things that I am real sure that our Father was not mad about. I was wrong and it was sin. And it really messed up my day. I messed up my day. But today is a new day and His mercies are brand new this morning. And His Word says

1 John 1:9 (New King James Version)

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I accept that this morning.

And so having said that I went to my online Scripture locator with the word anger and it comes up in the NKJV about 230 times. Needless to say I cannot share even a portion of them with you this morning – might be an interesting study for us to do on our own though.

First we know from our Christian upbringing so far that God hates SIN so it is safe to say that is what makes Him angry. And when I thought about Jesus being angry I could only think of one time: in the Temple with the whip. And we can find that account in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke.

To my surprise, so far, the word anger came up another time, here:

Mark 3 (New King James Version)

1 And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.

2 So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. 3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.”

4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.

6 Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.

So what was He angry about? And did you notice that His anger brought on grieving? He looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts.

And I’ve got to pause right here for today. If when you have pondered this and you have insight to share, please do.

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Please add my son and daughter-in-law to your prayer list. Paul recently had neck surgery and then a week later Kristi fell and sprained her foot really bad. Paul is not supposed to life anything any heavier than 10 pounds and now Kristi can’t walk with the baby. The baby weighs 23 pounds and Paul has had to help pick him up. He felt a pop in his neck last night and his back and arm are tingling. I know this is long but all you have to do is pray for Paul and Kristi’s healing and God will know what they need. Thank you, and God bless your ministry. Martha.

Betty’s fever is gone and the doctors found nothing to cause it. Thank you for your prayers.

Today’s is Vicki’s surgery.

ABBA, Thank You that today is a new day; thank You, LORD Jesus for washing my feet again, and for cleansing me and giving me LIFE Eternal; thank You for this Word this morning and I pray that You will be able to use it to help. You know I am pushing the limit here with time – help me get my priorities right so I won’t be pushing the limit. I pray now for each of our IDOKs for their spirits to be yielded to You for them to embrace this day with an attitude of gratitude, especially me, LORD. We pray again for Paul and Kristi to be healed and we bring every one listed here and ask for Your Touch upon them. We pray for our IDOK Troops to be protected in spirit, body and mind and for each of them to come home safe and sound. We pray for all the other matters on our individual hearts, asking that we surrender our wills to Yours and receive from You grace and peace in the Matchless and Holy Name of Yeshua. Amen and amen.
