Tending

36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

via Matthew 9 KJV;CJB – And he entered into a ship, and passed – Bible Gateway.

The verse speaks of Yeshua.

Crowds.
Many people.
And there still are.

He had compassion on them. On us. Why?

Because they were harried and helpless. So are we.

Harried.  troubled persistently especially with petty annoyances via harried – definition of harried by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Does that sound about right? persistently surrounded by petty annoyances.

And Helpless.

Unable to help oneself; powerless or incompetent. via helpless – definition of helpless by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Yep! That’s us. Powerless and incompetent to save ourselves!

So Jesus had compassion on us! And because of Him we are no longer helpless. He is our help. And we are no longer harried – well, we are still working on that one :) with The Shepherd’s Tending!

Grateful on this 27th day of 2014 for The Shepherd’s Tending – no longer helpless and learning to be less harried!!

Basketball

7 Throw all your anxieties upon him, because he cares about you.

via I Peter 5 KJV;CJB – The elders which are among you I – Bible Gateway.

I have read it over and over this morning.

Throw all your anxieties upon him, because he cares about you.
Throw all your anxieties upon him, because he cares about you.
Throw all your anxieties upon him, because he cares about you.

Have you ever thrown a basketball? Ever thrown anything? It takes a decision and movement doesn’t it? You can’t be passive about it. You can’t just sit there and hope it will happen. You have to make a move. Hmm. Throw. It is the word used here.

So to get my anxieties upon Him I have to make a move. And that move is TRUST. Trust is active. It is a decision that I make and He supplies the power to follow through. To actually do the casting as the King James version reads.

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

via I Peter 5 KJV;CJB – The elders which are among you I – Bible Gateway.

And why should I make this active decision to throw all my anxieties upon Him? Because HE CARES ABOUT ME.

HE CARES ABOUT YOU.

HE cares.

You name it. Whatever anxiety you have. Fill in the blank or blanks _________, _________, ________.  He cares!

Lets play some basketball on this 24th day of 2014.

For Now

Some of my first praying this morning was for peace because it is so easy to leave PEACE behind as we go forth to interact with others. And so I went to Scripture.

Here is a most familiar PEACE verse:

5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

via Romans 5:1-3 KJV;CJB – Therefore being justified by faith, we – Bible Gateway.

And there are others. Like this one:

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

via John 14:26-28 KJV;CJB – But the Comforter, which is the Holy – Bible Gateway.

It is Jesus speaking; telling the Disciples He is leaving but He is giving them HIS peace to be with them while He is gone.

It is His peace that we need. He has given it, but have we received it? And do we choose to live in His peace?

His peace is available to all – for now.  But there will come a day it will be taken away. There was a day He gave it. We saw that in John 14:27. Now look at Revelation 6:

3 When he broke the second seal, I heard the second living being say, “Go!” 4 Another horse went out, a red one; and its rider was given the power to take peace away from the earth and make people slaughter each other. He was given a great sword.

via Revelation 6:3-5 KJV;CJB – And when he had opened the second seal, – Bible Gateway.

Did you notice when peace is taken away we slaughter each other?

Revelation 6 is speaking of a future time, but there is a lesson for now. When the peace of God is not embraced, when the peace of God is not chosen, we ‘slaughter’ each other. Look around you, you see it. Day after day people kill people. They do this because the PEACE of JESUS CHRIST does not reside within them. But let us not be too hasty here. Let us look at ourselves. When we choose to step away from the Peace of Yeshua, we have weapons of slaughter too. Not a pistol or blade. No. We use our tongues. (James 3:8-10)

Yes! praying to choose to live in His Peace today on this 23rd day of 2014,

Kathie
