I Corinthians 13. The LOVE chapter. Perhaps a portion of Scripture read more often than many others. Perhaps even a passage used to promulgate unholy tolerance. Tonight I am here to differ. Tucked right there in those 13 verses in chapter 13 of I Corinthians are these words.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. [source]
One caveat. The application I make here is only ONE that can be gleaned from this chapter. There are many more. That being said.
Love. Real Love. God’s kind of love does not delight, celebrate, condone, or any other descriptive word man can come up with to shame Christians into embracing what GOD has rejected. Love does not celebrate and does not participate in what GOD has condemned. What does love do? Love rejoices with the truth. Love tells the truth. Love pleads with words and in deeds with every willing soul to come to the Truth. The Truth of I Corinthians 13 and every chapter before it and every chapter following it.
I admit it’s not an easy path. Lines get drawn in the sand and we are pushed and pummeled with hateful words by those who are yet to believe, but in CHRIST JESUS and by HIS SPIRIT we will learn to walk in Love and in Truth even up hostile avenues.
So let us take I Corinthians 13 and the Whole of Scripture and boldly embrace it, confident that there is not one Word in GOD’s WORD that gives us permission to call evil good and good evil. EVER.
One more verse. It is my prayer that we learn to live it. I think it is imperative for these days and I am certain that the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD will teach us if we will follow Him closely.
16 Behold, I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves; be wary and wise as serpents, and be innocent (harmless, guileless, and without falsity) as doves. Matthew 10 [source]
ABBA, thank You for allowing us the privilege of living in these hostile days; help us to honor You; help us to learn Your Ways, to be wise and harmless as we act and interact with the Peoples of this world. And, ABBA, help us fearlessly share Your Gospel with every willing soul You bring into our spheres of influence and those that we meet who are not yet willing, help us love them enough to do them no harm, and help us to always know the difference. And this we ask in and for the Mighty Name of JESUS, Yeshua HaMashiach.
