As Well?

I have a brief word of encouragement for us this morning before I ready myself for the work day.

6Hezekiah appointed military commanders over the people and gathered the people in the square of the city gate. Then he encouraged them, saying, 7“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged before the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater One with us than with him. 8 With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.”

So the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.  source

Hezekiah did not deny the opposing army was VAST. He did not deny they were in danger of attack. He did not deny the opposition. He did not deny the problem. BUT he did say this: for there is a greater One with us than with him. 8 With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.”

That is what I am bringing to us this morning!
I am not denying we have a vast enemy to face today.
I am not denying there is pain and unrest in this day.
I am not denying there is aggravation looming. I am not denying there are huge obstacles to overcome today but I am bringing to you and holding on tightly to myself this: for there is a greater One with us than with him. 8 With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.”

The people of Judah were strengthened by these words.

May we be as well?

Cycles

Life is a cycle

We repeat it day after day, each day is closely related, doing the same things. We eat, we sleep, we go to jobs, we do jobs at home, we eat, we sleep, and the cycle repeats. On occasions, vacations come along and our cycle gets a little wall-eyed but it’s still a cycle. More often than not we like our cycles. We want them to go on and on, especially with those we love who cycle with us. Some cycles have more rounds than others and as the cycles increase we wonder how few or more we have remaining.

It is appointed unto man once to die and then comes the judgment of how we have managed our cycle.

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
