Armpits!

Armpits!

Ladies, thanks to today’s advertising media we can now have perfect armpits. I kid you not! Frankly, I do not remember the product that will deliver this beauty but I do recall the model. Her skin was flawless; even skin tone, smooth and velvety texture and nary a hint of stubble! Her armpits!

Can you believe it?! Is it any wonder we are obsessed with how we look?

Perfect hair
Perfect face
Perfect body
Perfect armpits!

Yes! Ten years ago I could comfortably wear a size 2 jeans; today, some days, I can barely zip a size; well, you don’t need to know that!  🙂 What happened?

LIFE!

Something the advertising media misses conveying by a country mile! Real life. Real people with real lives – no airbrushing available!

It’s all about you don’t have enough. Not enough car. Not enough house. Not the right shampoo. Not the right clothes. Not the right mascara and your lips aren’t red enough or shiny enough either! Your cell phone cover is plain. Here, eat this hamburger and you’ll be sexy. Here, spend 15 minutes on our machine and you can work off that hamburger effortlessly. And it goes on and on endlessly – sitting on your comfortable, well-loved couch, you are told you need a new one; on your way to a party in your flattering best on a great hair day in your paid for vehicle, you are told your clothes are inferior, your hair is flat and fly-away and your car is nothing less than an embarrassment!

And I am sick of feeding on their steady diet of dis-contentment!

When this is true of me, the advertisers can digitally correct their models and paint their products any way they choose and I still won’t come up short! 🙂

I like this! on this 29th day of 2014,

  1. Armpits. Haha! I have an often-searched-post called “Armpit Hair” from the days when I first noticed it on my oldest son. 😉
I agree with you completely. However, this comfortable, well-loved couch on which I am presently sitting really DOES need to be replaced. It has more holes in it than Swiss Cheese, and some of them are big enough to swallow a cell phone. In fact, they have a couple times! But, alas, we’ve grown so accustomed to it that we let it stay. Maybe someday…

  2. You never cease to amaze me…first, a snowing blog last week, which I still LOVE! And now a post called Armpits. I absolutely adore you!! 🙂
You’re so right, though – your last thoughts: “…and I still won’t come up short.” When we are filled with God’s goodness and His beauty, we never fall short! As a mom to 3 young kids (okay, the youngest is 8 – they’re growing up too fast!), it’s so hard to compete with a society that gives a child a cell phone, plops them in front of a screen, and calls it “normal”. I have to work hard to instill running around, breathing fresh air, and other kid-friendly activities. I remind them, though, that with Jesus, they are complete!
Thank you for sharing this post with us at The Loft!

    1. Thank you Rebekah. You always bring me encouagement when you stop by for a visit. I like the snow too – a lot!! It’s a WordPress thing, I am tickled it is offered each year at Christmas. Babies for sure grow up fast. Mine are 41 and 38. I can hardly believe it! I am confident you are doing a great job with yours but even when you disappoint yourself, DADDY GOD has a way of using even our parental screw-ups. My Babies are living proof HE does well even when we miss the mark. Sweet Dreams my Friend. And thank you again for always encouraging me.

  3. A good word, Kathie. Airbrushing has been the cause of much needless angst among humans in our day. Reality is what we crave, not fake. I’m so thankful God loves me just the way I am. He is not the author of airbrushing!
