Luke 3(BSB)

Verse 3. He went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,

What does it mean to be baptized? Free Dictionary dot com says this: bap·tism   (băp′tĭz′əm) n. 1. A religious rite considered a sacrament by most Christian groups, marked by the symbolic application of water to the head or immersion of the body into water and resulting in admission of the recipient into the community of Christians. 2. A ceremony in certain religious or nonreligious traditions in which one is initiated, purified, or given a name. 3. An initiatory experience, act, or effort:

I think the words Father gave Luke to write mean more than Free Dictionary gives us.

preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,

We understand baptism to be immersion, right?
And we know repentance means to change our minds.
Could we say John was preaching that our being forgiven is predicated on us being immersed; all in, sold out to the act of changing our minds about our sins? Going further, could not we say changing our minds about our sins, also means agreeing with what GOD has said about sin?
I think so. Do you?

Day 2 — Hers, His

Luke 2

What a special man was Joseph!

Verse 6 While they were there, the time came for her Child to be born (emphasis mine)
Joseph always knew YESHUA was not HIS son, not by his seed.  But he loved JESUS. Perhaps when we get to Heaven, we can hear more from Joseph about his love for Mary’s Son.

Verse 7. Mary had other children.  And she gave birth to her firstborn, a Son. She wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.  Please note the TEXT reads she gave birth to her firstborn, a Son.
Does not firstborn mean there were other children born to Mary by Joseph? One could argue, I suppose. But there is more evidence. I offer you this LINK giving other Scriptures addressing the half-siblings.
Mary was exceedingly favored, Mary was a special woman, but she was a woman – the same natural makeup as other women, like you and me.

Verse 8. And there were shepherds residing in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks by night.
Allow me please to bring to your attention a most interesting reason why YESHUA was not born on December 25.
I have come to believe it was September or October.  Now His conception in Mary’s womb may have been the previous December — perhaps around Hanukkah time.  Wouldn’t that have been lovely for the LIGHT OF THE WORLD to come to earth during the Festival of Lights? Just a thought. I shall not run any further with it here.

Oh back to the interesting reason. Here’s a LINK.
And here’s an excerpt: Our expectation is that the people in Bethlehem would have had a similar concern, particularly since Bethlehem was famous for its grain fields.
One would not expect to see livestock in these grain fields before the harvest. However, after the harvest was complete, the shepherds were welcome to bring their hungry animals into the fields so that they could nose through the stubble for leftover kernels the harvesters had missed. In return, the sheep left behind valuable manure that improved the quality of the soil, increasing the yield of those fields in the following season. That is why the shepherds would have been “living out in the fields” near Bethlehem.

Day 1 – Good as Done

img_3459It’s late but I dare not wait till the morning . . .  why? Because right now it is still Day 1.
Day 2 is fast approaching and I have not a clue what will be written here for Day 2. I am hoping I do indeed write something for Day 2. smile1

Luke 1

Verse 67.
Zechariah was filled with Holy Spirit and he prophesied.
What was his prophesy? Begin with Verse 68 and see.

As you read it, please note he is speaking in past tense!
He says: GOD has visited His People. GOD has redeemed His People.

And in verse 69 he continues with past tense language!
He has raised up a horn of Salvation in the house of David.

And then in verse 76 he begins to speak over his 8-day-old son.
He says of him, you will go before The LORD to prepare the way for Him.

Do you know that at the time these words were spoken JESUS – YESHUA would not be delivered from His Mother’s womb for another 6 months?
Do you know what this means?
Zechariah KNEW The LORD was already here on planet Earth, He knew He had already left Heaven.

He knew that salvation, (redemption) was as good as done as it would be done when it was done

GOD keeps His Word!
When He says it, it is as good as done even before we see it done.

On a side note, do you know what else this means?
Babies are BABIES at conception.

DAY 1!
