A Bigger Honor

Your Home is an Embassy. A devotional choice with my You Version app.

2 Corinthians 5:20  (NLT) 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”  source

We are His ambassadors.

A diplomatic official of the highest rank appointed and accredited as representative in residence by one government or sovereign to another, usually for a specific length of time.  source

What do you see?
Diplomat. Official. Highest rank appointed. Representative. In residence. Specific length of time.

Sounds impressive doesn’t it?

Are you thinking what I’m thinking? This verse deserves more attention than I have given it!

It’s serious. It’s official. It’s an honor. It’s a calling. It’s a big deal. Perhaps some of the things we would say about being an Ambassador on foreign soil for the United States of America, wouldn’t we?

Well. 2 Corinthians 5:20 is from a tad (you know that tad is a tongue in cheek to the nth degree) higher authority than the US – wouldn’t you agree?

Again! This verse, This Ambassadorship, deserves more attention than I have given it! I need an attitude adjustment – I think I’m getting it!  Feel free to ask the Sovereign LORD if your Ambassadorship needs some reevaluating too.

It’s a bigger honor than I have valued it!

There is more here than my little fingers can get on this screen today!  And certainly more than my brain can wrap its embracing around at this moment! But it sure is exciting!! :)

Like He is making His appeal through us!  – For another day, Lord willing.

Ah Alas!

2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if the tent, our earthly home, is torn down, we have a building from God—a home not made with human hands, eternal in the heavens. source

Not my home of brick and mortar but my dwelling of flesh and bone and blood.  When this home in which I reside begins to need repair, when it requires more and more maintenance let me not despair for I have a home built by GOD waiting for me. That’s a happy for me.

We are confident, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and at home with the Lord.

Maintenance and repair and spiritual maturity – for Paul I think spiritual maturity the more. I think he loved JESUS so much he ached to go home to that building GOD had prepared for him.

So whether at home or absent, we make it our aim to be pleasing to Him.

Ah alas! the reason for Paul’s maturity! He aimed to please Yeshua!

Oh to be that mature! May I get there before I leave here. :)
