Spoils

I am here to be real in Joshua.

Chapters 15 to the last few verses of Chapter 21 — to me are Greek or any other language I have not learned. Boundaries, cities, pasturelands, and the like. In these chapters, the Tribes of Israel are given their allotments, their portion of the promised land wherein they and their families for generations will abide. I am thankful to have these chapters and for those who have comprehended them for these millenniums since their recordings.

Chapter 17.
I gathered from this chapter, GOD always does RIGHT; well, I get that from all the Bible but chapter 17 was a part of today’s reading. Zelophehad had only daughters, no sons. When they requested land as sons would have been given, GOD said yes; moreover, He commanded and the land was given.

Chapter 21, last three verses.

43 Thus the LORD gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their fathers, and they took possession of it and settled in it.  44 And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel had failed; everything was fulfilled.

Not one of all the LORD’s good promises failed.  Not one.
Does that encourage you?

Two stops in Chapter 22 and I’ll be finished for today.

Chapter 22.
And there is verse 5. It’s timeless. Still active. Still operational for us. It continues to be the message Father GOD has for us today.

5 But be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Finally, in verse 8, the soldiers from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh were returning home and Joshua gave them a command.

8 saying, “Return to your homes with your great wealth, with immense herds of livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and very many clothes. Divide with your brothers the spoil of your enemies.”

Divide with your brothers.
I placed a note in the margin: You give to us so we can give to others.

I took this to mean a real dividing, not a token, not a small portion, but rather sharing-chocolate-3920745390 a splitting of the candy bar to share with a sibling.
And from there I thought of the vast wealth of prominent Christians – houses with thousands of square feet more than needed or used except to house more worldly goods than can be consumed in a lifetime. Don’t get me wrong, I like nice things. I like comfort. I like pretty. I really like comfort. And in moderation, I think Father does not mind.
But, Folks, we can’t take it with us and it is likely what we leave behind at death, our heirs will fight over; so why?
Why not divide our spoils with our brothers and sisters who are in honest need of some modest good old American comfort?
Just being real here, that’s what came to mind.

Until Next time, with holy hugs, Kathie

Child’s Play

Yesterday’s post was Jordan Rivers in These Last Days.

Joshua 4:23, 24.  23 For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, just as He did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you may always fear the LORD your God.”  source

Why did HE dry up the Red Sea AND the Jordan River?
He did this so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you may always fear the LORD your God.”

This is one of the wonders of Scripture when we have questions when we want to see why — just keep reading. The answer will come.

Seven days they marched around Jericho, one time each day for 6 days and 7 times on the 7th day — and what happened?  The walls came tumbling down.
I’ve not seen such a happening. Have you?
And as I read this account, I wrote The LORD a note.
Just my opinion.
I’ll share it with you in part: I think the Mightest of all things You have ever done is raising JESUS from the dead after You had laid on Him all our sins. And every time You re-birth a sinner from death to life, You have done another Mighty work. The Mightiest of works since The Ressurection.

This being true, as humans, we still want to SEE miracles; what we call miracles, the overruling of the natural world we can see, touch, smell, hear, and taste by the supernatural we do not experience by these natural means. It makes me sad, and I am as guilty as anyone, that we are yet so physically minded that we do not rejoice the MOST when a sinner is born again.
Parting the Red Sea, drying up the Jordan River bed, and collapsing the walls of Jericho without dynamite is ‘child’s play’ compared to the deliverance of one person from the kingdom of darkness to The Kingdom of LIGHT.
Oh! to have a body and soul that consistently sees, hears, smells, tastes, and touches all of life in the Spirit!
Practice makes perfect.  smile

Until Next time, with kindest regards, Kathie

Jordan Rivers in these Last Days

In these Last Days, the Father has spoken to us by HIS SON, but that does not mean all that He has spoken before has now been unsaid or is of no effect.

Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;  source

GOD is so smart! That’s an understatement but you get my point.

Joshua 3

14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carried the ark of the covenant ahead of them.
15 Now the Jordan overflows its banks throughout the harvest season. But as soon as the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge,
16 the flowing water stood still. It backed up as far upstream as Adam, a city in the area of Zarethan, while the water flowing toward the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.
17 The priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel crossed over the dry ground, until the entire nation had crossed the Jordan. source

At the time, the Jordan

was overflowing its banks – the Jordan was as deep as it gets, but something happened. The water was completely cut off as far upstream as Adam — wherever that is.
GOD was acting on behalf of His People and other people were going to hear about it.  Why?
Two reasons I think.
One, the Hebrews had to get across the river and two, GOD wanted people to know HIM.
HE still does.
In His mercy and His love, He was reaching out to the non-Hebrew. HE still does.

We don’t see many Jordan Rivers piling up water as far upstream as Adam these days, do we?
And if our DESIRE is to see the SIGN, we likely never will, BUT if we DESIRE GOD, we cannot now imagine what we will see.

GOD still wants People to know HIM.
In these Last Days, do we engineer our own way of damning up the Jordans in our lives?
How’s that working out for us and the revealing of GOD to others?

Rehab, the Harlot

Good morning.

We are in Joshua this morning.

Be strong and courageous said The LORD to Joshua.

Verse 5 is a promise: 5 No one shall stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Wouldn’t you like a promise like that? Can you think of a similar New Testament promise, by the way, the Old Testament promise is still valid.   Hebrews 13:5

Do you think the promise of verse 5 helped Joshua to be strong and courageous? Do you have verses of Scripture memorized that help you to be strong and courageous?

Chapter 2 of Joshua opens with Rehab welcoming the Spies and the Spies have no names.
Actually, I am certain they do have names but their names are not recorded for us.  Our names don’t have to be known for GOD to do great work, do they?

Rehab, the harlot, that’s the name she is known by, but what I remember about Rehab is who she became when she believed GOD.
Who could we become if we would just believe GOD?
