Ants

I don’t even get to hate ants!

Truly, I’m not kidding and now in hindsight I am so glad. Would you like to hear this story? Good. Because I have to have something to write about and this is a fresh happening.

Yesterday the front porch was host to a million ants. No I am not exaggerating. There were at least four streams of them hiking from east to west (and my hubby would be proud to know I know the direction) the span of the front porch. I warred with them off and on throughout the day — they won.  So last night in a last attempt just after nightfall, I uncoiled the water hose and proceeded to produce a tsunami for them, hoping the forceful flood of water would slaughter at least 500,000 of them and would discourage the return of the others.

This morning in the early waking hours I sensed some unrest in my spirit and I was not prepared to live with it so I inquired of the LORD. And sure enough. I don’t get to hate ants. Not because He has a fondness for ants above me but because hating ants is destructive to me. That is not to say I must resign myself to ‘peacefully’ co-exist with them, but it is to say even in the thick of the battle to separate myself from them I must not hate them. If I want to abide in the peace of GOD and I do, I must have a heart of thanksgiving and void of hatred for anything, anyone, any creature.  I get to hate one thing — sin.

So do you have some ‘ants’ in your life; the very human kind? At all cost, forgive and petition the LORD to remove the hate from your heart. There is no other way to have His peace abiding in you; no other way to have His blessings.

Did the tsunami work? Of course not! They are back this morning. Same hiking trails as yesterday. The only change is me. I’m smiling and in sweet peace — ants and all. Albeit we did fed them some Sevin Dust this morning — time will tell. :)

Amen and amen. We can learn a lot from an ant.  :)

Happy weekend to you all.

Ownership

The weekend is all but gone. It was a good one for the Thompsons and we hope all of you enjoyed the Peace of JESUS and a goodly measure of laughter and relaxing.

Allow me to borrow from Sunday School this morning for a quick Monday morning word.

Jeremiah 29:4 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says to all the exiles I deported from Jerusalem to Babylon:
via Jeremiah 29: 4 HCSB – This is what the LORD of Hosts the God – Bible Gateway.

Th Author of our Sunday School curriculum (E. LeBron Matthews) points out while this is Jeremiah’s letter to the Exiles it is God speaking to them and we should notice He addresses Himself to them as LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel. In doing so He is reminding them of His covenant with them.  That He is their God and they are His people – their sin and rebellion has not changed that. He is forever Yahweh to them.

Perhaps some of us will find comfort this Monday morning  (or any morning) that even though we missed the mark of perfectly following after Him, He is still Father to us.  He has not breached His covenant relationship with us.

And I followed that with this:

Perhaps I am going out on a limb here but I also see ‘ownership’ in this verse.  Yahweh said: “I deported”. I believe we can learn from our GOD how important it is to take ‘ownership’ of our actions. He does. What would happen in our society if people would take ‘ownership’ of their actions?

Class members this morning proffered if we took ownership of our actions it would lead to repentance and forgiveness.
That blessed me!
Perhaps it will you too.

Perhaps there are some actions we need to ‘own’ and in so doing we will receive the mercy and forgiveness that God so desires to give us. It bears meditating upon, don’t you think?

Thank You, ABBA, for Your Word, for lesson writers, for people to share Your Word with and, HOLY SPIRIT, thank You that Your Word does not return void. Thank You for our IDOKs, their faithfulness in prayer and the study of Your Word. I pray for grace and faith to take ownership of those things hindering us from fellowship and obedience; that we may confess, repent and receive the restoration You desire for us.
We commend to You again each dear one on our list asking for health and healing and provisions as each one needs. Thank You for Dylan’s recovery. Diana, Kerri, Carson, Scott,  and others come to mind, specific unspokens, Israel, Our Troops, Churches and Pastors and America. Many needs, LORD. Thank You for carrying these burdens; thank You for giving rest to each obedient soul. Amen and amen.

Truth or Non-fiction

Just because it is non-fiction does not mean it is the truth.

Not until many hours after I viewed the movie did I know it was based on a non-fiction book. We often call these kinds of movies, true stories. Perhaps I will change that hence forth to say accurate accounting of the events but certainly not truth. And without truth, what’s the point?

Examining my memory as closely as I know how this is the first movie I have viewed in which I found no redeeming moments. It is not a bang-bang shoot ’em up; no abuse of alcohol or drugs that I caught.
Language? From time to time poor and ignorant yet milder than movies I have clicked off for that very reason.
Still no redemption in this one. Why?
It is non-fiction that denies THE TRUTH.

It’s the story of a woman seeking to find her life. I hope she is still looking for thus far she yet abides in death.

John 14:6 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
Jesus said unto him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.
via John 14:6 KJ21 – Jesus said unto him I am the Way the – Bible Gateway.

Exercise extreme caution in what you allow your children and grandchildren to set before their eyes.  If you have not previewed the programing, watch with them and guide them through to the TRUTH. Moreover, if He is not represented therein, we don’t need to be setting it before our eyes anyway.

In all our goings and doings, TRUTH must be our plumb line.

Enjoy your weekend and rejoice.

La Juanna writes: Most prayer requests that I receive are for people who are sick.  This request is for one of my sisters.  She is being persecuted on her job and she is just about at her wits end.  She just called me on her cell phone and was crying and almost hysterical.  She desperately needs a better job where she can work with nice people.  Please pray for her. Thank you, La Juanna

Thank You, ABBA, for TRUTH, for LIFE, for the WAY, JESUS our Savior and LORD. I pray to help others come to HIM too. And You know my heart and my request for this Dear One that La Juanna has brought to us for prayer. And not just this one but many Ones that You have in Your Grace entrusted to us for prayer. Oh, ABBA, we are destitute for anything good without You. Thank You for providing all we need and I am reminded now of the Pastor’s words for Your Provisions we must embrace Your Priorities.  I pray we do in JESUS name. Amen and amen.
