Two things to believe about GOD. Believing these two things will please Him and gain you and me an audience with Him. Are you game for that?
From the Text, we can believe them to be: 1. That He is! That He lives. That He exists, always has, always will. 2. That He is good. Good enough to hear you, good enough to listen, and good enough to do Right by you.
And you know, I think if we continually, consistently believe these things about Him, we will please Him every day! Moreover, when we continually, consistently believe these two entry-level things about Him, our knowledge, trust, love, and faith in Him will grow more and more. Are you game?
Our parents made mistakes in their disciplining of us, some more than others. We made mistakes in disciplining our children, but GOD, He has never made a mistake. And He never will. His discipline is always for our good, and always because He loves us. Does it hurt? Well, yeah! Sometimes the pain lingers long! But I’ve discovered that even in the midst of pain, I still sense and know His love for me and His comfort to me.
There’s more in the verse. So, let me ask, what reason do you see, other than for our good, does Father discipline you and me? I think it is even more important than for our good — although this is certainly good for us.
