STOP!

OFF buttons.
Yes. I am thankful for OFF buttons.

24/7 media outlets spin and stream BUT the OFF button silences them all when we use it.

And then I thought how many other things in my life have OFF buttons?
With Holy Spirit’s help, even our minds have switches we can flip – much akin to an OFF button.
I say that because I think my mind never truly shuts off :) but I can redirect it into a more wholesome direction.
So can you.

So, when an avenue of thought begins to stream and the Holy One alerts us; yes, we can flip the switch. We can say STOP to that train.
And it’s been my experience (with practice) that train stops and a new rail of thought will open.
Yes. I am grateful. Very grateful for this holy gift of STOP.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things. source

But let’s be real, let’s be honest here. Verse 8 is not easy to do just off the cuff without practice.
However, we are not left without Help and Instruction. Check out HERE verses 4-7.
These verses believed and obeyed will give us real help living verse 8; real help saying STOP to those unruly and not so nice thought trains all too ready to run on our mind rails.

Your Pillow

I am still in Psalm 34. I’ve been to some other places in Scripture as well but I keep coming back to Psalm 34

Today it is this:

13 Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears are toward their cry for help.
16 The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
To eliminate the memory of them from the earth.

19 The afflictions of the righteous are many,
But the Lord rescues him from them all. source

I’ll be upfront with you. Verse 16.  I am eager for it!
But we aren’t there yet. We are closer than we were but we are not there today – perhaps soon!

So in the meantime, it’s the other verses I must concentrate on.
Evil x2. Deceit. Peace.
We are expected to keep our tongues from evil; our lips from deceit; turn from evil on every level and do good instead.
Isn’t it interesting that the next instruction is Seek peace and pursue it?
I submit to you that for us to seek peace, to pursue peace we MUST turn from evil AND do good.
That is not easy in this society BUT it is attainable – otherwise, we would not be instructed here to do so.

How is it possible?  Philippians 4:13.

And verse 19?
Take that one to your pillow.
Don’t linger long wondering why did this or that happen to me.
The Righteous have MANY afflictions. It’s just a fact.
That’s what HE said.
BUT HE IS RESCUING US!!

Good night, Friends.
Have a lovely evening – Peace and Rest.

Mulling that Over.

2 Corinthians. Chapter 1. Verse 2.

I think I shall be brief this morning.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. source

Merriam-Webster surprised me with its definition of Grace.
See.
Unmerited divine assistance.  Coming from GOD. etc.

But Peace? Not so good.
It doesn’t even attempt to define this Peace of verse 2. Perhaps because we cannot define GOD’s Peace, we can only experience His peace. Here check out M-W’s definition of Peace. HERE.

Now my note to myself on verse 2, Chapter 1.  See if you can relate.

Do I?
Is this verse asking me, do I?
Do I come (go) to people in and with the Grace and Peace of GOD who is our Father and with and in The LORD JESUS CHRIST?
Is this how I interact and react with people? And when I talk about one to another, do I?
Do I speak the Grace and Peace of GOD, my Father, over them or is it something else I speak?
I am mulling this over and as I do I see changes a-coming.

Philippians 4:7 (AMP) And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].  source
