Roots in a glass.
Yep. That’s one of the things for which I am giving thanks today.
I harvested the last of my basil last week or possibly the week before, brought it into the kitchen, and deposited the few stems in a glass jar. Many years ago in a Friend’s kitchen, I admired her basil growing beautifully green and healthy in a glass. Later I tried it too — but failed.
But this time I have ROOTS!
Roots in a glass. More than roots, I have leaves! Albeit, I do not have as many leaves, or are they as beautiful as Carolyn’s but perhaps with time, sunshine, and water more will grow.
For now, I have these and I am grateful.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1 (source)
I’ll take that!
Psalm 1is speaking of something more than my roots in a glass so may I encourage you to read it in context.
I am giving thanks today for more than I am going to innumerate here. I am a delighted woman.
Potatoes. Yes. I am grateful for potatoes for soup. I had leftover chicken and all the other fixings for chicken pot pie soup – no crust. :) I was chopping and throwing veggies in the pot and thought I need a potato. I have no potatoes. Who wants to go to the store for 2 potatoes? But JT said he would and as he was leaving the drive –Misfitsarrived. Potatoes! Along with other veggies!
Soup’s on!
And later there will be roasted brussel sprouts. Oh my, are they good with a little olive oil, onions, and carrots, a little spice, and roasted just right!
We have so many reasons to give thanks.
Psalm 37: (CJB) 25 I have been young; now I am old; yet not once have I seen the righteous abandoned or his descendants begging for bread. 26 All day long he is generous and lends, and his descendants are blessed.
27 If you turn from evil and do good, you will live safely forever. 28 For Adonai loves justice and will not abandon his faithful; they are preserved forever. But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.source
I am thankful that 27 years ago today a little man was born. His lungs filled with air and he let out a cry that told us all he was strong and loved.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Boy. Your Mamaw loves you.
Children. Gifts from GOD!
Psalms 139
13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! source
Are you giving thanks for children today?
Are you giving thanks to the Father who has allowed us to love and care for these precious little men and little women?
The privilege, the responsibility. the GIFT of introducing these little ones to JESUS is our greatest joy and our greatest accomplishment.
Amen and amen!
We are glad you are here; stay a while, look around, and be encouraged. We estimate there to be over 3,000 posts here at The White Stone Blog. Please know my hope is ALWAYS to help and NEVER harm. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing. But this is changeless: JESUS is our ONLY Savior and Hope. Do you KNOW Him?
