Spot-less

Romans+10-13+Whoever+Calls+On+The+Name+Of+The+Lord+Shall+Be+Saved+brown-2394072552As some of you know I am reading, slowly, through the Bible, not necessarily all in this one year of 2024, but reading through all the same. In my reading, I took note of sacrifices.
If you have read the early Books, you saw the innumerable lambs, goats, rams, doves, and pigeons sacrificed. Constant blood-shed. There was a reason for that. There is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood (Hebrews 9:22) and all this pointed to YESHUA who would come and His sinless Blood would be shed as The Sacrifice for sin.

Today I read this again for the first time.
1 Peter 2:5.  5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Many times I have been thankful that it is no longer necessary for animal sacrifices to be made; that we do not have to take an animal every time we sin, go before a priest, and sacrifice that spot-less animal in our place for the sin we committed.

However, 1 Peter 2:5 told me sacrifices are not over; spiritual sacrifices are required of us and I am thinking daily; perhaps multiple times daily.

Here’s my note to myself: Oh my! In the Old Testament, they were constantly offering up sacrifices, bloody sacrifices, but now JESUS is that Blood Sacrifice. And we are NOW to offer up spiritual sacrifices and they will be acceptable because of JESUS.
Spiritual Sacrifices.
Am I offering them?
Am I daily coming to make sacrifices on the Spiritual Altar of my life?

It’s a valid question, don’t you think?

Cut-Off

I made it to Ruth — for tomorrow!

Judges ended this way: 25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

Judges 19 was a hard chapter to read. We have had such heinous happenings in America.
Wednesday’s post defined sin as evil; Judges 19 fleshes it out for us.

I did see some hope in Judges, chapter 21:  6 And the Israelites grieved for their brothers, the Benjamites, and said, “Today a tribe is cut off from Israel.
I think their grieving was that without intervention the tribe of Benjamin would cease, would be no more. They would be 11 tribes, not 12.
I wanted it to be ‘spiritual’ and I want to pursue it that way.
I want us to see that people are cut off from GOD and care enough to pursue them with The Gospel.  I want us to pray and take action as directed by HOLY SPIRIT to proclaim the GOOD NEWS to them.  I’m concerned about our lack of grieving the Lost, the Cut-Off people of this world.
I am urgently mindful that people are dying without getting off their road to destruction and yet I am painfully aware it is easy to get distracted and occupied with day-to-day living matters. We need to change in JESUS’ name.
Prayer is the first step.

I am eager to share this with you.

Leviticus 5

This Old Testament depiction of New Testament deliverance is glory on a page.

The early verses of the Chapter set some groundwork.
We are born guilty but without knowledge of it; as we age it gnaws at us that we are not RIGHT with GOD.  See verse 4

At the time of this passage, sin offerings were brought and the priest would offer the sacrifice and make atonement for the sinner.

5 If someone incurs guilt in one of these ways, he must confess the sin he has committed,  6 and he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD for the sin he has committed: a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering. And the priest will make atonement for him concerning his sin.  source

And the priest will make atonement for him concerning his sin.

23 The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24 but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7 source

Guilt is established. The need for forgiveness is established. Our need for a priest, a mediator between us and God is established.  Our need to be forgiven is established.

And here on an Old Testament page is glory for me.

Verses 10, 13, 16, and 18. Four times we read these glorious words:

you will be forgiven

You will be forgiven!

When the BLOOD of JESUS the CHRIST is applied to our sin account, we are forgiven!

WE ARE FORGIVEN!
The sinners part?
Come.
When you are made aware of your sin by HOLY SPIRIT, don’t run from the Priest, run to HIM and accept HIS offer and You Will Be Forgiven!

Glory on a Page!!
