Cheddar Cheese Chex Mix

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2009

I am excited here! Beth Moore simulcast begins tonight (Friday)! I have my ticket to attend at North Mobile Baptist Church in Saraland; hope to see some of you there.

I have finally undertaken what I have put off for years – memorizing Scripture, again. I say again because as a Baptist girl in GAs and Acteens, memorizing Scripture is one of those things we did. So. This week I have begun; taking it slow, depending upon the length of the verse or verses will give myself a month for each selection and if that works well will try for two selections a month. For now it’s 1 Corinthians 9:27 But I discipline my body, and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. I have set myself to select passages of Scripture that speak to a need or struggle in me and this one is paying off already. I busied myself through lunch today so about 3:00 or so I was pretty hungry and thanks to this Scripture coming to mind and quoting it to myself, I put that Cheddar Cheese Chex Mix away instead of eating too much of it. I just could not sit there and keep eating what I knew was not that good for me while I was hearing ‘But I discipline my body’ within the walls of my mind. I think I may be on to something here!! Certainly this Scripture text addresses much more serious matters than putting down a bag of Cheddar Cheese Chex Mix but hey, it worked! Who would argue with success? Not me! Sweet blessings to you all; be safe and live holy all weekend.

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

ABBA, today’s victory is still sweet even in this moment; thank You. And as my beloved just said for me today it was Chex Mix, another time it could be something more serious to put down but Your Word will still be there to bring victory. Thank You that is good! Thank You that Mabel is home recovering and I pray it will be a steady, speedy recovery; You know all that she needs in this moment and I pray she will receive it all from You. You have heard the names of every one listed here; You know the need; You know their faces, You know their hearts; You love them more than we can imagine; help them believe and do for them all that is in Your Heart to do for them we pray. Comfort and give strength and courage to our IDOK Troops, those away and those here and we pray especially for those away that at the appointed time they will be home safe and sound. Israel is still dear to me so I pray for Peace for them; I pray for protection and for allies. I pray America will not turn Her back on Israel and I pray if IDOK can serve in any way that You will instruct us. I pray for Your missionaries, for their protection and for open doors to minister and give Your message of salvation in Christ Jesus alone. Amen and amen. A SPECIFIC UNSPOKEN.
