Repeating and Sleeping

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2009

Repeating and Sleeping

I need this repeat! And even if you don’t, I hope it will comfort you today.

January 18, 2006

I overslept and so here I am with a blank screen and with minutes ticking away, wondering what to say. Life is like that too often isn’t it? We make plans and plans fail and we wonder what now. You know what? He is our “what now”? And our “who” and our “when” and our “where”.

Psalm 121: 1 I WILL lift up my eyes to the hills [around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Zion and Mount Moriah]–From whence shall my help come?

2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not allow your foot to slip or to be moved; He Who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand [the side not carrying a shield].

6 The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life.

8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Read it again, don’t miss one promise! As soon as we WILL and we lift our eyes, we lift our failed plans, our rushed schedules, our disappointments and our wonder what am I going to do, to HIM, He HELPS. He who made Heaven and Earth can surely plan and shape and mold and uphold my little life (and yours). He who steadies the world can surely keep me from falling into ruin and despair. Even when I oversleep — He never does! He surely keeps ‘our goings’, ‘our doings’, ‘our plans’, ‘our failures’, all our ‘what nows‘, and our ‘who will help me now’ and our ‘when is this going to pass’ and ‘where will I ever find the time’ and ‘where did I put that’, all that and more, He will KEEP us in and through. All we have to do is WILL to LOOK TO HIM FOR OUR HELP! How AWESOME He is; there is NONE to be compared to HIM.

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Update From Melinda: I was in Rutledge yesterday and a sign said “Welcome home, Matthew Pelc. Thank you!” He is evidently home recuperating. Thank you, Jesus! We have a church member who is training in Las Vegas now, for deployment to Afghanistan in February; his name is Joey Hyde.

We have a Sister who is troubled – pray for Mary.

Father, thank You. Thank You that there is NONE compared to You and You never sleep and You are never surprised and You never fail and You hold us up and You protect us and You guide us and You keep us now and forevermore. Thank You. Today our list is different from when this message first came and yet some are still in need like Roy and Julee and others are now with You and they are surely well and happy now. Thank You. We would not leave any names out, so we bring the whole of the list to You for help and comfort and healings. And I am comforted that You have not forgotten and that You Holy Spirit KNOWS who needs prayer today and You will get someone to do it. Thank You. And when You privilege me to pray for someone during this day ahead, please don’t let me fail to do. I don’t want to miss the blessing of being a partner in that ones life with You. Oh, Father God, You are so AWESOME; thank You for letting me be your little girl. And thank You for IDOK and I thank You for Your favor upon each of us for Jesus sake. Amen and amen.

Oh, To Be Amazed Again!

IDOK DEVOTION FOR TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2009

You don’t have to know me too well to know I have a strong appreciation for contemporary Gospel music. But I was reminded Sunday how much theology there is in the old hymns of faith; we should never get too far away from them. So this morning and I am still waiting for instruction if there will be other mornings, lets READ I Stand Amazed In The Presence.

I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean.

Refrain:

How marvelous! How wonderful!

And my song shall ever be:

How marvelous! How wonderful

is my Savior’s love for me!

Oh that we would be amazed again at the MAN, fully GOD and fully MAN, for sinners like you and me. We may never be able to get our minds around His love for us, but may that not defer us from giving it a good faith effort! We just might then be amazed at what this Jesus the Nazarene would do in the here and now within you and me!

For me it was in the garden He prayed: “Not my will, but thine.” He had no tears for His own griefs, but sweat-drops of blood for mine.

(Refrain)

He had no tears for Himself, just for you and me – Sweat drops of His precious Blood. Only the Holy Spirit can bring that home to us and may we allow Him to do that for us even this very day!

In pity angels beheld Him, and came from the world of light to comfort Him in the sorrows He bore for my soul that night.

(Refrain)

Can you imagine the thoughts the angels had, to see their Creator suffer that way for us – rotten to the core creatures? They too must have been amazed. Oh, that we would allow the Holy Spirit to enable us to be amazed again.

He took my sins and my sorrows, He made them His very own; He bore the burden to Calvary, and suffered and died alone.

(Refrain)

He made them His very own – His taking my sins and your sins as His very own separated Him from ABBA – His ABBA. Think about that! Think about a loving family, a godly dad and son or daughter, and because of some sin of omission or commission a riff is created and oh the sorrow there is in that, but that does not even begin to come close in comparison with the sorrow on that day when Jesus made our sins His very own. Oh! We would again be amazed in the presence of Jesus!

When with the ransomed in glory His face I at last shall see, ‘twill be my joy through the ages to sing of His love for me.

(Refrain)

YES! When we see Him Face to face, forever we will sing of His love for us. Lets start NOW!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7QuZ4wo1X4&feature=related

And here’s your You Tube; it’s a long version but worth it especially when the instruments are silent and you hear only the voices singing. Oh, yes amazed in the presence of Christ Jesus, the King of All Glory!!

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Our Soldier whose name we were not given is much improved and a complete recovery is expected, he is talking already about getting back to his troop!

Oh, ABBA, take a reading on our hearts for our words are failing. Oh, yes, Holy Spirit enable us to be more amazed in Your presence than so far we have known. Thank You JESUS. These words are so inadequate, so make us living sacrifices! You are so AWESOME!

Thank You for our soldier who is doing so well and we pray Your plans for him will come to be. And we pray for all our IDOK Troops for their protection and safety this day and we pray they and we and all on our list will come to be amazed in Your Presence. Holy Spirit, do a work in every heart, made a radical, amazing change in we, Your people; call and enable a body of believers to be amazed, so amazed that the world will take notice and be amazed at You Jesus the Nazarene, King of Kings and LORD of Lords. Amen and amen.

Second Chances that Come Before the First Act

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2009

I am anticipating being very brief this morning since it is 7:38 as I begin and two grand-babies are awake and for some reason are expecting breakfast. (Big Smile)

It was a lovely weekend and I expect a lovely week in Jesus Name! Our God is faithful!

Let me give you a note of wisdom that I woke up with this morning: When you wake up from a dream with inexpressible gratitude that you didn’t do it; that ABBA’s way of giving you a ‘do over’ without the consequences – don’t waste it!

I have two YouTube(s) for you this morning. On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand. Amen and Amen!!

2 Timothy 2: 19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

2 Peter 2: 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

Amen and amen.

Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

ABBA, thank You for lovely memories and precious one with whom to make more; thank You for music, thank You for Your Word and I ask You to apply it this morning. Not only apply it but seal it in our hearts that we will not sin against You. I pray for our IDOK Troops for their safety and protection today. I pray for this Nation for grace and space to repent of our iniquity. I pray for Israel for Peace and Protection and for faithful allies. I pray for each one listed here, for every need and every hurtful, difficult situation for each to KNOW Your Presence and Your Guiding Hand, but most of all Your Loving and Perfect Heart that will never leave us or forsake us or do us wrong. And it is in the Mighty and Holy Name of our Savior, LORD and Coming King, Yeshua, that I pray. Amen and amen.

A Guest Writer Today: Joanie Yoder

IDOK DEVOTION FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2009

A Guest Writer Today: Joanie Yoder

of RBC – Our Daily Bread from her Book, God Alone

2 Corinthians 12 NIV

7To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

It is always a joy to talk to my old college friend Tom and get caught up on what the Lord has been teaching us since we last met.

One time Tom began with a sheepish grin, “You know, I can’t believe how many years it’s taken me to learn my latest lesson – and I’m a Bible Teacher!” He went on to list some of the trials and testings he and his family had been facing and how unworthy he felt teaching an adult Sunday school class. “Week after week I felt I was a total failure,” he confided, “and kept wondering if this might be my last Sunday before announcing my resignation.”

Then on Sunday Tom noticed a young woman who stayed behind to speak to him. She was a friend of his family, so she knew what they had been going through, “Tom,” she said, “I hope you won’t take this the wrong way, but you’re a much better teacher when you’re going through tough times!”

Another sheepish grin crept across Tom’s face as he told me, “Only then did I feel I grasped the Lord’s response to Paul’s thorn in the flesh: ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’”

Weakness helps us to relate to others and lets God’s power work in our lives. That may be our greatest asset.

WE MAY FACE SITUATION BEYOND OUR RESERVES, BUT NEVER BEYOND GOD’S RESOURCES.

ABBA, we certainly feel the weakness but we have experienced Your Grace and we know that Your Grace is sufficient; abundantly sufficient for Danny and Tina, Sparkie, and our Sister here before us this morning. Holy Spirit help us pray fervently for these and all these listed here. And whatever You desire to do with IDOK hands and feet to alleviate and aid I pray we will hear Your Call and obey quickly. I pray for Holy Ghost discernment and urgings for all of us in all our situations and circumstances today. Please continue to protect our IDOK Troops today; please continue to have mercy on we the people of America; please continue to stem the tide of evil, particularly in Washington and State Governments and deliver us from sin in the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray. Amen and amen.
