Ownership

The weekend is all but gone. It was a good one for the Thompsons and we hope all of you enjoyed the Peace of JESUS and a goodly measure of laughter and relaxing.

Allow me to borrow from Sunday School this morning for a quick Monday morning word.

Jeremiah 29:4 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says to all the exiles I deported from Jerusalem to Babylon:
via Jeremiah 29: 4 HCSB – This is what the LORD of Hosts the God – Bible Gateway.

Th Author of our Sunday School curriculum (E. LeBron Matthews) points out while this is Jeremiah’s letter to the Exiles it is God speaking to them and we should notice He addresses Himself to them as LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel. In doing so He is reminding them of His covenant with them.  That He is their God and they are His people – their sin and rebellion has not changed that. He is forever Yahweh to them.

Perhaps some of us will find comfort this Monday morning  (or any morning) that even though we missed the mark of perfectly following after Him, He is still Father to us.  He has not breached His covenant relationship with us.

And I followed that with this:

Perhaps I am going out on a limb here but I also see ‘ownership’ in this verse.  Yahweh said: “I deported”. I believe we can learn from our GOD how important it is to take ‘ownership’ of our actions. He does. What would happen in our society if people would take ‘ownership’ of their actions?

Class members this morning proffered if we took ownership of our actions it would lead to repentance and forgiveness.
That blessed me!
Perhaps it will you too.

Perhaps there are some actions we need to ‘own’ and in so doing we will receive the mercy and forgiveness that God so desires to give us. It bears meditating upon, don’t you think?

Thank You, ABBA, for Your Word, for lesson writers, for people to share Your Word with and, HOLY SPIRIT, thank You that Your Word does not return void. Thank You for our IDOKs, their faithfulness in prayer and the study of Your Word. I pray for grace and faith to take ownership of those things hindering us from fellowship and obedience; that we may confess, repent and receive the restoration You desire for us.
We commend to You again each dear one on our list asking for health and healing and provisions as each one needs. Thank You for Dylan’s recovery. Diana, Kerri, Carson, Scott,  and others come to mind, specific unspokens, Israel, Our Troops, Churches and Pastors and America. Many needs, LORD. Thank You for carrying these burdens; thank You for giving rest to each obedient soul. Amen and amen.

Truth or Non-fiction

Just because it is non-fiction does not mean it is the truth.

Not until many hours after I viewed the movie did I know it was based on a non-fiction book. We often call these kinds of movies, true stories. Perhaps I will change that hence forth to say accurate accounting of the events but certainly not truth. And without truth, what’s the point?

Examining my memory as closely as I know how this is the first movie I have viewed in which I found no redeeming moments. It is not a bang-bang shoot ’em up; no abuse of alcohol or drugs that I caught.
Language? From time to time poor and ignorant yet milder than movies I have clicked off for that very reason.
Still no redemption in this one. Why?
It is non-fiction that denies THE TRUTH.

It’s the story of a woman seeking to find her life. I hope she is still looking for thus far she yet abides in death.

John 14:6 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
Jesus said unto him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.
via John 14:6 KJ21 – Jesus said unto him I am the Way the – Bible Gateway.

Exercise extreme caution in what you allow your children and grandchildren to set before their eyes.  If you have not previewed the programing, watch with them and guide them through to the TRUTH. Moreover, if He is not represented therein, we don’t need to be setting it before our eyes anyway.

In all our goings and doings, TRUTH must be our plumb line.

Enjoy your weekend and rejoice.

La Juanna writes: Most prayer requests that I receive are for people who are sick.  This request is for one of my sisters.  She is being persecuted on her job and she is just about at her wits end.  She just called me on her cell phone and was crying and almost hysterical.  She desperately needs a better job where she can work with nice people.  Please pray for her. Thank you, La Juanna

Thank You, ABBA, for TRUTH, for LIFE, for the WAY, JESUS our Savior and LORD. I pray to help others come to HIM too. And You know my heart and my request for this Dear One that La Juanna has brought to us for prayer. And not just this one but many Ones that You have in Your Grace entrusted to us for prayer. Oh, ABBA, we are destitute for anything good without You. Thank You for providing all we need and I am reminded now of the Pastor’s words for Your Provisions we must embrace Your Priorities.  I pray we do in JESUS name. Amen and amen.

SEE

Truth is I did not sit to write yesterday; does not mean I did not sit, just no writing. And when night-time came my eyes were much too heavy and my brain too foggy. BUT this morning when my beloved read our Guidepost Calendar devotion a thought came!

Child-like and childish.
What a difference, said the Guidepost Author!

Matthew 18:3 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. via Matthew 18:3 NASB – and said Truly I say to you unless you – Bible Gateway.

1 Corinthians 13:11 King James Version (KJV)
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
via 1 Corinthians 13:11 KJV – When I was a child I spake as a child I – Bible Gateway.

JESUS said we must become child-like to receive His salvation. Paul said when he matured in faith, he put away childish things.

Child-like.
Innocent. Dependent, without burdens. Wide-eyed wonder.

Childish.
Selfish. Boisterous. Demanding. Eyes closed to anything but what he/she wants.

I see the difference.
Oh let me grow up to be child-like!!

Thank You, ABBA. This makes me smile and encourages me.  I pray it will others. Amen and amen.

Settle Down

I am working on Sunday School. We are still in the book of Jeremiah. Our Author of Sunday’s lesson has entitled it SETTLE DOWN. Most of you won’t be in class on Sunday, so would you like to take a peek at my notes so far?
Good.
Here’s the intro – draft.

Let me give you a 21st Century right now-today- true story to illustrate to you what I believe Yahweh was asking the Hebrews to do when they landed in Babylon captivity. Obviously, it was too late to avert the consequences of their rebellion even if they repented. Captivity was unavoidable by this time.  So what did God want from them?

He wanted them to repent and settle down into captivity and when they came out of it, if indeed they lived long enough to come out of it, they would be prepared to live in freedom.

Here’s the story. Carol and Gene Kent have a son. He’s in prison for life for murder.
J.P. Kent.
J.P. has in the most Biblical sense I can imagine settled down into GOD in captivity.

The website is www.carolkent.org

Last Fall Carol and Gene worked diligently, spared no time or expense to prepare documentation to petition for a clemency hearing.  They were denied. They cannot even petition for another hearing for five years.

This is what J.P. said when they gave him the news and this is how J.P. has settled down in captivity.

J.P. was totally at peace as he said, “Mom and Dad, if God chooses to allow me to walk in freedom in this lifetime, it won’t be because I received the favor of well-connected politicians and attorneys. It will be because God moved in the hearts of decision makers in a miraculous way. I am content with that. My heart hurts for the family of the deceased and I hope that someday they will be able to forgive me.”

Jason is currently taking his 8th group of inmates through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course. He is in the Gavel Club, which is a group of inmates who are working on their public speaking skills. He has reached the 4th level of the Evangelism Explosion program, and he has a group of mighty prayer warriors who fast and pray on behalf of the needs of each other and their families.  via Update on Jason Kent | CAROL KENT.

What GOD was telling Judah to do, they could have done.
What He is telling you and me to do today, we in HIM can do.
