Me

Some indescribably good news to e just flowed from the end of my pen.
It reads:

Thank You, ABBA, for Me, every part of Me. The good, the bad and the ugly of Me. The Me You are making useful in and to Your Kingdom using the good, the bad, and the ugly; the Me I am today. I am loved, accepted AND acceptable to You and to Me. This is a gift from You, HOLY SPIRIT, and I am so grateful to receive it today and I pray by Your grace to never let go of it. Amen and amen.

Joy unspeakable!!

Morning, July 15

“The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.”

— Leviticus 6:13

Keep the altar of private prayer burning. This is the very life of all piety. The sanctuary and family altars borrow their fires here, therefore let this burn well. Secret devotion is the very essence, evidence, and barometer, of vital and experimental religion.

Burn here the fat of your sacrifices. Let your closet seasons be, if possible, regular, frequent, and undisturbed. Effectual prayer availeth much. Have you nothing to pray for? Let us suggest the Church, the ministry, your own soul, your children, your relations, your neighbours, your country, and the cause of God and truth throughout the world. Let us examine ourselves on this important matter. Do we engage with lukewarmness in private devotion? Is the fire of devotion burning dimly in our hearts? Do the chariot wheels drag heavily? If so, let us be alarmed at this sign of decay. Let us go with weeping, and ask for the Spirit of grace and of supplications. Let us set apart special seasons for extraordinary prayer. For if this fire should be smothered beneath the ashes of a worldly conformity, it will dim the fire on the family altar, and lessen our influence both in the Church and in the world.

The text will also apply to the altar of the heart. This is a golden altar indeed. God loves to see the hearts of his people glowing towards himself. Let us give to God our hearts, all blazing with love, and seek his grace, that the fire may never be quenched; for it will not burn if the Lord does not keep it burning. Many foes will attempt to extinguish it; but if the unseen hand behind the wall pour thereon the sacred oil, it will blaze higher and higher. Let us use texts of Scripture as fuel for our heart’s fire, they are live coals; let us attend sermons, but above all, let us be much alone with Jesus. [1]

Hilarious

Good morning.

I’m still thinking about something I heard from Beth Moore yesterday – Wednesdays with Beth – so why not write about it for our Thursday time together. Right?

Luke 1: 62 And they made signs to his father, as to what he wanted him called.
via Luke 1 NASB – Introduction Inasmuch as many have – Bible Gateway.

They (meaning the people present at the birth of John the Baptist) made signs to Zechariah asking him what would be the baby’s name.

But how did they ask him? They signed to him.

And if that were not so indicative of how we are that would be hilarious.

Zechariah was NOT deaf. He was MUTE.

Could we say that the people had watched Zechariah signing to them for nine plus months and therefore they conformed to what they saw?

You will recall from the TEXT that when Zechariah did not believe the Word of the LORD given by Gabriel that Gabriel closed Zechariah’s MOUTH, not his EARS.

Perhaps in our ‘monkey see, monkey do’ society, we would do well to have our mouths shut so our ears might hear the WORD of the LORD.

And that’s all I’m saying – for today. :)

Thank You, ABBA, for humor filled with truth.  And forgive us that so often what we see and what we say hinders us from HEARING You. I pray this message today will be heard by us all and we will be made better by it and more available in service to You and the Body of Christ. And it is in His Name I come this morning bringing our IDOKs asking for strength and courage to live holy today. And praying for Dylan to recover and remembering Kathy and Joe; and Ken and Della; Carson; Willow Grace; Betty; Melinda; Janet; DeLois; Jenny; Elaine; Kerri; Diana; Dori; unspoken requests; Israel; the desperate need for repentance and revival; all these and this we bring in petition for help and healing and encouragement . Amen and amen.
