Free Online Dictionary Fear

Psalm 25:12 Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
via Ps 25 NASB – Prayer for Protection Guidance and – Bible Gateway.

Isn’t that an interesting phrase? Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.

Fear? Regular run of the mill fear?  Hmmm.

Fear: A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger. via Fear – definition of Fear by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

No. Not that kind of fear. This kind:

My Hebrew Lexicon gives the Hebrew word for our English word fear as ary, transliterated yare’, meaning to stand in awe of, to honor, to respect.

So now. Let me give you a KT paraphrase of verse 12.

The man who is in awe of God, who honors God, who respects God will seek the LORD in all his (her) decisions; he will inquire of the LORD BEFORE the decision is made; he will pray saying, ‘LORD which should I choose?’ And even before he knows the LORD’s answer, he is determined to do it.

Further he/she who fears the LORD can expect this:

13 His soul will abide in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.
via Ps 25 NASB – Prayer for Protection Guidance and – Bible Gateway.

The one who fears the LORD lives prosperously. I like that! But what does it mean? This is what I think: that he who fears the LORD, his whole being is lavishly loved by God and he (or she) knows it! — whether she be in the midst of a trial or beyond the trial; when supplies are abundant or when there is scarcity. Through it all, she who lives LOVED passes it on to her children and they are well likely to receive this land of prosperous living for themselves.

It’s believing we are lavishly loved, always and forever, that keeps us free of Free Online Dictionary fear.

Vowels

A E I O U and sometimes Y — is that right?

I was reminded this morning as my hubby was reading one of his morning devotionals to me that where we position a vowel in a word changes more than just the word.

Got.

I got to go to work.
I got to iron clothes.
I got to mop the floor.

Change that o to an e and see what happens.

I GET to go to work today. That comes from the mouth of one whose heart is grateful to have a means of gainful employment to provide for her/his family.

I GET to iron clothes. Can only be spoken by one who appreciates such things as this:  I have an iron. I have a roof over my head wherein that iron is housed. Moreover I have clothes to wear – clean clothes even, or they would not need pressing.

I GET to mop the floor. Again. I have a floor. I have eyes that can see the need to clean. I have arms and legs that can actually perform the task.

See what I mean?
You try it.
What do you GOT to do that you really are blessed to GET to do?

Not One, Not Two

Genesis 3:4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!
via Gen 3 NASB – The Fall of Man Now the serpent was – Bible Gateway.

Do we dismiss him altogether or do we fail to allow ourselves to appropriately score the hatred of Satan? When he said to Eve You surely will not die, he knew differently. He knew he was offering her death; not only to her but the entire human race. He knew when she disobeyed God and took a bite of the forbidden fruit she would then be a rebel against God and that IS ultimately death.  He knew it! He wanted her eternally spiritually dead. He wants that for the entire human race. Is that not the epitome of hatred and evil? And yet who of us has not taken him lightly?

To some he is nothing more than a cartoon character in a red suit with a long tail and a pitch fork. He must think that so humorous and much to his advantage. I see him as having two tactics.

One, the cartoon character as described which is tantamount to non-existent.

Two, he would have us to be so preoccupied with him, seeing a demon behind every bush, that we would be immobilized with fear.

One or two, whichever we choose to believe, Satan wins. Until JESUS that is.

So what should be our position?

So, got your armor on?
Good.
Then we will not play into his hands any longer as did our sister Eve.
We will refuse to believe any more of his lies.
We will give him reason to fear us and not we him.
