Summer 2012

has officially begun at the Thompson house. We are two days into GRANDS. I see signs in almost every room that they are here and that’s setting well with me — for a little while.  🙂

They have an honor board for helpful deeds done without prompting and the entries are appearing at a steady pace.  If these two days are an indication this will be a great Summer.  Prayer works!!!!

I am late getting here for a Wednesday. Come to think of it I missed Monday and Tuesday, didn’t I? There may be more than a few days I miss this Summer – that does not mean I will not be thinking of you nor that I forget you in prayer.

A sober passage has been chosen for us perhaps for today and tomorrow. Not with any expectations of you succumbing to drunkenness or dissipation; however the worries of life come to even the least of us.

Luke 21: 34 “ Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap;
35 for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth.
36 But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
via Luke 21 NASB – The Widow’s Gift – And He looked up – Bible Gateway.

Even so let not the Summer and altered schedules and activities hurry you into missing dedicated prayer times and the Study of ABBA’s Word. As demands increase, we will need the strength of prayer and the WORD to meet the sometime ‘grueling’ fun.

So let us keep alert as our days run together, praying and praising.

ABBA, thank You. Thank You. You are GREAT and AWESOME. I am encouraged and delighted and expectant of the Mighty Works You are doing in lives of people so dear.  And for each one who comes here to read and pray, I ask for an alertness and a determined heart to stay close, praising and praying and loving You; serving and ministering through all the days of Summer.  We bring our sick and afflicted asking that You heal them and for our Prodigals and I Waywards we entrust them to You and stand listening for Your instructions how we can help in JESUS name. I pray too for Israel for peace and a subduing of their enemies and for America  I ask for grace and space to repent. Thank You, ABBA. We love you. Amen and      .

A No-Brainer

I have a quick thought this morning before I scurry off to a GRAND’s 6th grade graduation.

Page 98 of James Banks book Praying for Prodigals reads in part this way:

“You know what it’s like to have a world full of prodigal children, and only one child who did what was right–your Son, our Savior! You love us so much, you “gave him up for us all” (Romans 8:32)!”

Can you imagine giving up your one and only child who does right for a bunch of no goods who deliberately choose to do wrong?!!

GOD DID!

Can ANY ONE fault Him for denying entry into HIS Heaven to ANY ONE (and Every One) who rejects the Sacrifice of HIS ONE and ONLY SON?

It really is a no-brainer, isn’t it?

Romans 8:32 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

32 He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
via Romans 8:32 KJ21 – He that spared not His own Son, but – Bible Gateway.

And as a bonus look again at the verse: SINCE He gave us Salvation in His One and Only Son will He not freely give us all other things we need?

Like I said, it’s a no-brainer!

Are we challenged today to use the MIND OF CHRIST?  That is the only way we are going to THINK right, don’t you think?  🙂

Got Sheila home yesterday!! And got to spend some time with Baby Girl! A RED LETTER day for sure!!

Thank You, ABBA, for James Banks and the writing skills and the messages You gave him for us. And as I read and prayed this morning, I pray again: I pray for our prodigals that they will turn to You, LORD, for Your sake and for theirs.
HOLY SPIRIT, move us to crown this day with goodness given us through JESUS, our SAVIOR and LORD.  And again we ask You heal our sick and afflicted that we bring before You in these moments. Amen and  ___.

How about a picture and a report this morning!

I call it Morning Rays for my Daisies.  And, of course, the picture did not do the sight justice!

ABBA, words cannot express my gratitude!! The song in my heart is TO YOU BE THE GLORY!! Oh thank You. Thank You.

Psalm 62:6-8

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

6 He only is my rock and my salvation,

My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

7 On God my salvation and my glory rest;

The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

8 Trust in Him at all times, O people;

Pour out your heart before Him;

God is a refuge for us. Selah.

It Doesn’t Hurt To Ask

I have been thinking about it so perhaps I should write about it this morning.

I recall a time.  A panic attack was forming. I could feel it coming on. I was scared. I didn’t want to go there AGAIN.  And in ignorant desperation I cried out – literally!:

JESUS, pray for me.

He did. The panic attack immediately subsided.  Mind you I have had some anxious moments since then but none again to that magnitude.

My point? It is a good thing to ask JESUS to pray for us. Shall I give you Scriptural bases?

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
via John 17 KJV – These words spake Jesus, and lifted up – Bible Gateway.

32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
via Luke 22:31-33 KJV – And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, – Bible Gateway.

Past tense, right?

25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
via Hebrews 7 NASB – Melchizedek’s Priesthood Like – Bible Gateway.

Present tense!  He ALWAYS lives to make intercession for us.

So doesn’t He pray even if I do not specifically ask? Of course He does! BUT what of  ‘ye have not because ye ask not’ (James 4:2)?  I’m just giving you some food for thought.

Next time you’re in a tight place, you could cry out: JESUS pray for me.  Perhaps it will make a sweet memory that you will never forget.  A memory that you will hold on to for the rest of your life. A memory that will encourage you and remind you every time – HE LOVES ME! HE HEARS ME!

Thank You, JESUS, for praying for me even when I do not form the words. And thank You that when I do, You let me know that You are always, always praying for me; always loving me.  And not just me but every willing soul who believes and receives. And for every soul who comes here to read and pray today, I pray this precious Truth will bear fruit in their hearts. And, ABBA, we come with our sick and afflicted again this morning, asking You to heal them. And, HOLY SPIRIT, we come with our wayward, rebellious, oblivious Ones and ask for mercy and grace and space to repent. And we pray for our beloved Israel for peace and safety for them. And for our own beloved Nation we pray for mercy; for a revival; for You, HOLY SPIRIT, to call people to come together to pray and intercede for others in JESUS name. Amen and               .

Curious

I am curious as to what you think about these two thieves? I am curious if you see mankind represented in them and why.

39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”
40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”
42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!”
43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
via Luke 23 NASB – Jesus before Pilate – Then the whole – Bible Gateway.

One thief went to paradise. One went to Hades. Why? Both thieves got the same sentence; both were hanging on a cross, one on one side of JESUS and one on the other side of JESUS. Both heard JESUS speak the same words; both were in pain; both thirsty and dying – what do you think made the difference in their approach (response) to JESUS?

Like I said, just curious. And preparing for Sunday School — 🙂

Will be thinking about you this weekend. Find your way to a place of corporate worshiping with other Bible believing-practicing Christians.
