City Wall

Proverbs 25:28 New International Version (NIV)
28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

via Proverbs 25:28 NIV – Like a city whose walls are broken – Bible Gateway.

In Ancient Times what happened to a city when its wall was broken through?

That’s right. The city was pillaged.

Let me give you some synonyms for pillage.

What else happened in Ancient Times to the people, women especially, and even children, in a city when the walls were broken through?  I don’t have to say it, do I? Isn’t that graphic?

And so Father is saying to us when we forsake His power working in us (i.e. for the Christian that is self-control) we have opened ourselves to be pillaged and that graphic word by the Evil One as well as our own marauding flesh.  Just turn on the news and see what happens when Ishmaelites overrun a city – there is a graphic picture of our spiritual lives (which naturally affects our physical lives, since the two are intricately tied) when we fail to maintain our city walls.

So in what condition is your city wall?

Sturdy? Solid? Strong? No breaches?
Or
Crumbling, Dis-repaired, Gaping holes, Breached?

THE WORD of GOD will rebuild our walls, but we have to show up for work detail!

If we want our city walls up and healthy we have to have the WORD of GOD ALIVE AND ACTIVE IN US AND WORKING OUT THROUGH US. We can start by meditating (same action as worrying – you know how to do that: going over and over the same thing in our minds) on Scriptures that address our issues.

Thank You, Father, for this word picture of ancient city walls and how clearly it speaks to the absolute necessity for self-control to live holy in this world. HOLY SPIRIT, I pray that not one Dear Soul who comes here to read and pray will leave this page without seriously considering Your Word in this to us.

We have the God-given Right to do right in this wrong World,

Already All Ready

2 Peter 1: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

HAS GRANTED!

Did you see that? has granted.  My Friends that is past tense! He has already done it!

EVERYTHING, PERTAINING TO LIFE AND GODLINESS!

Everything YOU and I need today to live this life in godliness He has already granted! We don’t have to beg Him for it. We don’t have to cry and plead and beg and wonder if He will. He already has!

YOU already have ALL you will need today to do this day RIGHT.

Me too.

But there is a catch.

We have to APPLY His ALREADY ALL READY provision in the moment of our need.

And we CAN do that today.  It’s our choice.

And, ABBA, as I get up from here moving quickly as the morning is well on its way and much is lined up to do, thank You for this word from Your Word. By Your Grace we will be applying it in JESUS name and for His sake as well as our own and others. We bring our sick and afflicted asking that You heal them. Our rebellious and oblivious, thanking You for pursuing them, trusting they will yet stop and allow You to redeem them. Israel, always praying for Your Peace upon Her and in Her. America, save us, ABBA. Save us in JESUS name.

Up and Out of There!

Mark 9:29 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
29 And He said unto them, “This kind can come forth by nothing but by prayer and fasting.”

via Mark 9:29 KJ21 – And He said unto them, “This kind – Bible Gateway.

I was reminded of this verse this morning while pulling weeds from the front walk flower bed.

A few of the weeds pulled up easily, the rest were a bit more stubborn; hanging on to the soil in which they were entrenched with all tenacity. But alas I won and out they came, bringing a bit of the soil with them but that was okay, they were up and out of my garden!

Get the picture? Keep praying. Fasting if you need to until those stubborn betting sins are up and out of there!

Hebrews 12:1 English Standard Version (ESV) 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

via Hebrews 12:1 ESV – Jesus, Founder and Perfecter of Our – Bible Gateway.

Be of good courage! Take heart and keep tugging on those stubborn weeds until they are uprooted and gone! In other words: keep resisting the pull of the fleshly desires that are marring the beauty of your life and as you resist, rely on the power of JESUS CHRIST to uproot even the clingiest ones!

Thank You, ABBA, for the exercise this morning in ridding myself of clinging and stubborn sins.  I pray this lesson will help others too. And persistently we come to prayer with our sick and afflicted and I ask that You heal and restore them. And our rebellious and oblivious, thank You for continuing to pursue them; HOLY SPIRIT, please help them stop and allow You to apprehend them. I pray for Israel, for Her peace and the subduing of all her enemies. I pray for America that You will have mercy and save us, ABBA, for You very own Name Sake.
