Fruity Thursday

Just a Gentle Reminder

Galatians 5: 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!  source

Go in Peace and much other fruit today.

Ignorance is not Bliss

I think I shall be quick today.

Good Wednesday morning to you.

1 Corinthians 12 begins with the Apostle Paul penning for The LORD that He (and Paul) does not want the people of Corinth (or you and me) to go on being ignorant.

How would we today like a sermon to start off that way?
Some of us would be okay with that as we do not want to be ignorant of The LORD’s Ways.

Verse 2.
You know that when you were pagans, no matter how you felt you were being led, you were being led astray to idols, which can’t speak at all.  source

When we and they were pagans, before we received The LORD’s Salvation, no matter how we felt about it, we were being led away, astray from GOD to idols

If we are not being led by GOD, we are being led AWAY from Him.
It’s as simple as that  — and we don’t need to go on being ignorant of that.

The Chair

Have you ever read Hebrews 11 substituting the word Faith for Trust?
I encourage you to do that today.

Hebrews 11.
Here are a few verses to get you started.
The Complete Jewish Bible does it for you.
Look and see.

1 Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see.
It was for this that Scripture attested the merit of the people of old.
By trusting, we understand that the universe was created through a spoken word of God, so that what is seen did not come into being out of existing phenomena.  source

By trusting, Hanokh [Enoch] was taken away from this life without seeing death — “He was not to be found, because God took him away” — for he has been attested as having been, prior to being taken away, well pleasing to God.
And without trusting, it is impossible to be well pleasing to God, because whoever approaches him must trust that he does exist and that he becomes a Rewarder to those who seek him out. source

Is it just me or does the word Trust seem to more adequately describe what it takes for us to be well-pleasing to GOD?

I can have faith that a chair will hold up under my weight but until I actually SIT in the chair I have not demonstrated my faith – I have not TRUSTED the chair.

Many people believe (have faith) that there is GOD but is that enough to get them to heaven?
No.
Faith must mature into Trust.
We must TRUST that JESUS life, death, and resurrection are sufficient – that HE is well-pleasing to the Father and so are we when we TRUST His Sacrifice for us.

When we TRUST we take our SEAT; we sit in the chair of faith that JESUS is enough to save ME.
