Boldness

I was reading Acts 4 this morning. Peter and John were fresh from a night in jail and went immediately to people of like faith to pray.

24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, 25 who by the mouth of Your servant David have said:

‘Why did the nations rage,
And the people plot vain things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord and against His Christ.’

27 “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together 28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.  source

They prayed aloud together. They praised and confessed the sovereignty and power of GOD the Creator. They prayed His Word back to Him. They plainly explained their situation. And they asked for boldness to continue to proclaim His Story.

Thank You Sovereign Lord and Father. Thank You for Your Word that teaches us, encourages us, and convicts us. We pray for such love for You as had these and such courage to be bold in proclaiming Your Story of Love, Grace, and Forgiveness not only to those inside Christendom but those yet outside. We acknowledge here that Your Son is the only way of salvation for all mankind.  Thank You for giving us faith to believe and pray.

What Say Ye?

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Edmund Burke

Mark 10:18 (TLV) 18 “Why do you call Me good?” Yeshua said to him. “No one is good except One—that is God.  source

Acts 10:38 (KJV) 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.  source

Philippians 4:13  (KJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. source

1 Corinthians 3:9 (KJV) For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. source

All this considered, what would your take away counsel be?

Not for Sissies

The Bible is not for sissies.   I’m still in Acts 13.

49 Now the word of the Lord spread throughout the whole region. 50 But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and they drove them out of their district. 51 But Paul and Barnabas shook the dust off their feet against them, and they went on to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and the Ruach ha-Kodesh.  source

The influential church ladies and the leading men, (notice the women are mentioned first) people with a form of godliness but no relationship with YESHUA, (see 2 Timothy 3:5-7) rose up against the people of GOD.

I am seeing a form of this today.  Media has streamed it right into our living rooms: Influential women who talk a good game of helping women have joined forces and voices (and some men have joined them) to speak against and ‘run out of town’ the people of GOD.

So what do we do? The same as did Paul and Barnabas. Let us be filled with the HOLY SPIRIT and the Joy of the LORD, shake off the dust and move on to those who have not considered themselves UNFIT for the Salvation of GOD.   (verse 46)

Unfit?

Having a good time with Acts 13 this morning!

Just one nugget – maybe :)

46 Both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken to you first. Since you reject it and judge yourselves unfit for eternal life—behold, we turn to the Gentiles.  source

Since you reject it and judge yourselves unfit for eternal life–

How many folks have judged themselves unfit for eternal life? It is the HOLY SPIRIT’s operation (see John 16:8) to come to individual souls and offer Eternal Life to them and when that individual says NO, by that decision that one has judged himself/herself UNFIT for eternal life.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  source

May it dawn upon us: He didn’t have to (condemn us) because we had already condemned ourselves!

HE CAME TO SAVE! Dare we call ourselves unfit anymore?
