Ownership

The weekend is all but gone. It was a good one for the Thompsons and we hope all of you enjoyed the Peace of JESUS and a goodly measure of laughter and relaxing.

Allow me to borrow from Sunday School this morning for a quick Monday morning word.

Jeremiah 29:4 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says to all the exiles I deported from Jerusalem to Babylon:
via Jeremiah 29: 4 HCSB – This is what the LORD of Hosts the God – Bible Gateway.

Th Author of our Sunday School curriculum (E. LeBron Matthews) points out while this is Jeremiah’s letter to the Exiles it is God speaking to them and we should notice He addresses Himself to them as LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel. In doing so He is reminding them of His covenant with them.  That He is their God and they are His people – their sin and rebellion has not changed that. He is forever Yahweh to them.

Perhaps some of us will find comfort this Monday morning  (or any morning) that even though we missed the mark of perfectly following after Him, He is still Father to us.  He has not breached His covenant relationship with us.

And I followed that with this:

Perhaps I am going out on a limb here but I also see ‘ownership’ in this verse.  Yahweh said: “I deported”. I believe we can learn from our GOD how important it is to take ‘ownership’ of our actions. He does. What would happen in our society if people would take ‘ownership’ of their actions?

Class members this morning proffered if we took ownership of our actions it would lead to repentance and forgiveness.
That blessed me!
Perhaps it will you too.

Perhaps there are some actions we need to ‘own’ and in so doing we will receive the mercy and forgiveness that God so desires to give us. It bears meditating upon, don’t you think?

Thank You, ABBA, for Your Word, for lesson writers, for people to share Your Word with and, HOLY SPIRIT, thank You that Your Word does not return void. Thank You for our IDOKs, their faithfulness in prayer and the study of Your Word. I pray for grace and faith to take ownership of those things hindering us from fellowship and obedience; that we may confess, repent and receive the restoration You desire for us.
We commend to You again each dear one on our list asking for health and healing and provisions as each one needs. Thank You for Dylan’s recovery. Diana, Kerri, Carson, Scott,  and others come to mind, specific unspokens, Israel, Our Troops, Churches and Pastors and America. Many needs, LORD. Thank You for carrying these burdens; thank You for giving rest to each obedient soul. Amen and amen.

Right – right.

It is my Right.
It is your Right to live free.

But what does living free mean to me?
What does it mean to you?
And is the freedom you seek according to Scripture?
Yes? Then you have the Right to live it.
And if I’m not and you’re not – something is not right. Something is wrong.

There is a judgment people need to know about; it bears on this Right to be free.

John 16: New American Standard Bible (NASB)
11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
via John 16:11 NASB – and concerning judgment because the – Bible Gateway.

Believe it! This is the verse that set me on this avenue of pondering.

We all know who the ruler is – Satan.
And what he gained in the Garden, he lost at Calvary.
And just what did he lose at Calvary?
The RIGHT to keep us in bondage.

That’s right. Let me say it again and again: In CHRIST JESUS you and I have the Right to live free!

So let’s unpack this a bit.

I already know I am free from the penalty of sin. JESUS took care of that. Satan no longer has the Right to drag me off to hell when I physically die.

But that’s not all that he no longer has the Right to do.  JESUS did much more for us than just save us from hell.  If it were not so, He would have surely taken us on to Heaven with Him right when He saved us from hell. But we’re still here so there must be more Rights for us to get back before we leave here.

This is powerful stuff, don’t you think?

Ok. So it is established even in my mind that I am free from the penalty of sin.
Check. Done.

Next.
Free from the power of sin. I hesitate to write Check. Done. On that one I could write Partial Check. Maybe. So what’s wrong?

I have failed to receive my Right to live free in the here and now. And you know what? That’s just not right. :)

I even know some of those sins that I have forfeited my Right to live free of; like:
Laziness
Lack of discipline
Lack of self-control (which we know is HOLY SPIRIT control)

And then there are those things I have the Right to be released from that I’m not; like:
Bitterness
Resentment
Conditional Love (we know what that is – when our expressions (demonstrations) of love toward another are based on whether or not they do what we want them to do)

I have the Right to be free from these things. I have the Right to be controlled by the HOLY SPIRIT. I have the Right to love unconditionally. I have the Right to bring my thoughts, attitudes, actions, ALL that stuff under the control of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Satan has NO Right to hold me in bondage of any kind — so why would I allow it?
Why would you?

It is my Right.
It is your Right to live free.

Am I ‘preaching’ that we can live sinless here on this planet?
NO!
Just that we can SIN LESS than we do.

And it’s time.

Kathie

BIG

A quick belated Tuesday Morning Hello. And I do mean quick.

I read this in my Journey just now and it seems BIG.  Big enough for us to chew on all day.

Father, help me not to throw stones when others make decisions I don’t understand. Help me give grace instead.

Amen and amen.

Hebrews 13 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
1 Let love of the brethren continue.
2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
3 Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body.
4 Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said,
“I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,”
6 so that we confidently say,
“THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?”
7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Affect and Effect

What to write; what to write on a Sunday evening for a Monday morning? That’s a good question. What would be better is a good answer. :) Perhaps we will get one.

I hope you all have had some R & R this weekend and have invested some time in worship of our Great LORD and Father.

With a week of week days coming fast upon us, none of us are privy in this moment to every challenge that will confront us; but we are privileged to receive comfort in knowing that our DADDY GOD knows and He has already prepared our means of victory.  I hope we choose to receive His wisdom and comfort.

Saturday I polled my Facebook Friends and followed up with a question for pondering.  I think I’ll share the same with you all.

Saturday 9 AM – “I am curious; taking a poll you might say. How many of my (IDOKS) FB friends read the Bible every day?”

And the follow-up was this: Saturday 12:18 PM “Follow up to my Bible reading poll — just for pondering, not another poll: How many minutes or hours of TV or movies do you watch (excluding Christian programming) a day? Could you, will you divert some of those minutes to reading the Bible?”

Our poll answers directly affect and effect how well we will choose to receive ABBA’s wisdom and comfort leading to victory over our challenges this week.

1 Corinthians 10: New American Standard Bible (NASB)
13  No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

James 1 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
1 James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.
2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,
8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

ABBA, thank You for being You and giving us all we need in You to be the US You desire for us. You are so faithful, so good to us.  Thank You.
You know I am thinking about Kerri, wanting You to remove those tumors and heal her; and Carson, he is only three and unless You tell me differently I am asking You to heal him; and Dori and her surgery on Wednesday, I am trusting it is what is needed to give her renewed and better quality of health; I pray this surgery and recovery for her will be textbook perfect and comfort her children as they wait I pray. And Truman comes to mind, You know the plans You have for him, I pray for health and strength to heal and walk in those plans and Beulah too. And those specific unspoken, got those on my mind too.  Thank You for tending them. I don’t want to leave anyone out who has asked us to pray; I am grateful that You won’t forget a one of them. Challenges. We are all going to have them this week.  I just pray in JESUS Name and for His sake that we will be faithful. Thank You, ABBA. Amen and amen.

Privileged to be His handmaiden,
Kathie
