Wall Calendars

December 31, 2022

Last day.
Are you Ready?

What shall we do?
Shall we invite, rather plead with The Father to give us the wonderful, holy gift of conviction of sin?
On this special day shall we confess our sins, receive His forgiveness and be willing to embrace a new level of obedience?

I wonder how many Folks still have wall calendars?
That’s what we used to call them.
Wall calendars. SouthernLady2023WallCalendar
I guess I still do.

We have one in the kitchen, one in the library, and one inside the door of the dressing room towel closet.
That’s where we record our daily weight.
Well, where I record it if it’s acceptable to me. 😉
J is much more faithful than I am.

What else shall we do today?

Set some goals, maybe?
Let’s see, shall we make a  list of some Books to read?
Or perhaps name the People we want to see — to fellowship with?

Attics to clean? Nah — I don’t even want to think about that today.

I have a pile of sheets to wash.
Not kidding. I want to laundry all of them and freshly stack them in the deacon’s bench at the end of the bed so they are ready all month in January.
You know when things get tucked away for a while they tend to get stale. 🙂
There’s a message in that if you want to explore it.

Happy New Year’s Eve.watchnight_nw_yrs_eve.364110008_std

Whatever you decide, whatever you do make it something that you can do in JESUS’ name.

Strong Language

Luke 18

Then Yeshua told his talmidim a parable, in order to impress on them that they must always keep praying and not lose heart.  source

Our English word for talimidim is Disciples.
In our subject verse, there is a word I don’t want us to miss. It is MUST.
It’s not a suggestion. It’s not merely good advice to take or leave.
No, it is a command — we MUST always keep praying, and even when we do we MUST also determine to NOT lose heart.
And so we practice.

Verse 8. He asked a question.

. . .   But when the Son of Man comes, will he find this trust on the earth at all?”  source

Will HE?

If we pray and refuse to lose heart — He will.

And moving on in the chapter we come to children. It is the account of people bringing their children to YESHUA and the Disciples rebuked the parents. JESUS corrected them immediately.

16 However, Yeshua called the children to him and said, “Let the children come to me, and stop hindering them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. source

Let’s light here for a bit.
Bringing children to JESUS.
Do NOT hinder children from coming to JESUS.

Does this happen today?
I think it does.
People and parents HINDER their children from coming to JESUS.

How?
By not going to HIM themselves for one.
Another way – saying they have Come to JESUS but living like they have not.
No parent or person ever lives for JESUS without obedience to Scripture and it is a day-after-day discipline.

The evil one, all his unholy helpers, and even the world’s people hate our children.
Do you think that is strong language?
Read your Bible and if you can tolerate it watch just a few minutes of  Mainstream Media.
All the aforementioned hate children and are making it their business to be sure OUR children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren DO NOT come to JESUS.
This world’s systems are set up, designed, and operate to hinder anyone from coming to JESUS in saving faith (trust); and children are the MAIN target.

The WORST act a parent or person can commit against a child is to hinder or prevent that child from saving faith in JESUS The CHRIST.

And parents if we do not actively engage with JESUS ourselves and actively seek to engage our children with JESUS – not the JESUS we are taught in many ‘churches’ today but the Real JESUS of the Bible – these children may easily grow into CHRIST-rejecting adults who die in their sins and miss GOD for eternity.

As parents, NO job, mission, opportunity, privilege, or obligation is more important than bringing our children to JESUS.

So how are you/we going to do that?

Prayer and not losing heart.
By obedience to the Scripture.
By living a godly, holy life — a life they can SEE, trust, feel and KNOW.
By refusing to provoke them to anger but rather by bringing them to JESUS.   See Colossians 3:21 and Ephesians 6:4

Are you unclear about what it means to not provoke them to anger?
Then Read Scripture and Pray until GOD makes it clear to you.
For the LIFE of your children do NOT ask the unsaved people of the world for their advice!  Bible-verses-and-scripture-quotes-about-fathers-1000x525

Dustbuster

Servant.

Not a word that is presently liked so much.
Perhaps because we have lost sight of the intent and the Perfect Example of being a Servant.  John 13
Just in my span of years, I have seen the scowl on faces at just the mention of it; and signs of the bitter taste it leaves in the mouths of many.

Do you?

And then the light shines brightly – the act of service – being a servant, is meant to be a healing balm in this cold, hostile world.

Serve one another in love.
How healing would that be in homes all over this world?

Should I say it?
I think I shall.
We are more like JESUS when we serve one another in love than just about any other time in our lives.
And the opposite of that – well, we know, don’t we?

Love Serves.
What says get it yourself

Guess What

Guess what.
An attitude of gratitude makes housework easier.

I’m not kidding. I proved it today.

There were floors to dust mop, toilets to clean, sinks, countertops, dishes to wash, laundry, cooking  – you know those endless tasks. Endless because we do them over and over again. And we can complain about it – a lot.
But why?

Did not The LORD tell us whatever we put our hands to do, to do it for Him?

Hey now, we can dust mop floors, clean counters, and all that other stuff already listed with a thankful heart.
Giving thanks that we can fellowship with JESUS while doing these things AND we can give thanks that we have floors and a roof and people on those floors, beneath that roof that we love.

AND we can train our children in the process (because yes they need to be taught to clean too). We can give praise out loud to our Gracious LORD as we work alongside those little ones – helping them with toys and clothes and whatever tasks they are ready to learn.  It will take holy practice for them and us!

Believe it or not, Scripture does not say: cleanliness is next to godliness. However, if we look around at Creation we can easily see that our Creator is The GOD of orderliness, tidiness, etc.

I really expect Heaven is beautiful, clean, and tidy.
I think I best practice till I get there!   🙂

Five Senses World

September15, 2019, Sunday School Notes

Ephesians 2:1-10

Our lesson writer entitled this session Resurrected. Wait. This isn’t Resurrection Sunday why a lesson titled Resurrected in the book of Ephesians?

What does it mean to be resurrected?

I often refer to Webster. My favorite is Webster’s 1828 edition.  And that edition told me this:

Resurrection A rising again; chiefly, the revival of the dead of the human race, or their return from the grave, particularly at the general judgment. By the resurrection of Christ we have assurance of the future resurrection of men. 1 Peter 1:3.

Creation repeatedly demonstrates resurrection to us. GOD built it in for us to see. Each night when we go to sleep we are picturing death. While we sleep we are dead to this world; we know not what is going on in it, we must be awakened to participate in it.

Each morning we emerge from sleep, even before we open our eyes, our senses kick in and we know we are alive. Each morning we vividly picture resurrection.

Similarly, SPIRITUALLY we once were DEAD.

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

We were dead to experiencing the HOLY SPIRIT. He was not in us; we were dead even though our body was much alive to our five senses, we lived by them. Then we were quickened as the Scripture states. We were RESURRECTED. In CHRIST JESUS we were made SPIRITUALLY ALIVE. So now we are physically alive and spiritually alive and the war is on! The five senses continue to SCREAM to be in charge and the HOLY SPIRIT quietly urges that we listen to Him. To whom we submit is the degree to which we experience RESURRECTION on a daily basis AND to the degree to which we experience our resurrection is to the degree that we demonstrate GOD to this five senses world we live in.

And that’s what I have so far. Good Intro, I think. 🙂
