Sugar and Flour

Approximate reading time: 2 minutes.

People I love dearly, including myself, 🥰 I have heard say, ‘I just can’t resist it; if it’s in front of me, I am going to eat it or drink it.’  We must repent of this.  how-to-store-flour-and-sugar-long-term-1697700912-1848960292

As Christians, we say that we have the Spirit of Almighty GOD living within us. The same Spirit of GOD who is so powerful that He raised JESUS from the dead.

Graveyard dead, y’all.

I mean His heart was not beating, respiration had ceased, there was no oxygen in His lungs, and His body was in full repose for THREE DAYS! This was the state of JESUS our Savior and Father GOD raised His body from complete deadness to Living, Breathing again!

And we as Christians say we cannot resist a bag of potato chips or one more piece of cake? How can we deny Him like this?! How can we do this in the sight of so great a cloud of witnesses? Hebrews 12:1-3.  I can only think it is ignorance at best and at worst . . . something else.

Please join me in repentance! Please see with me that for us to consistently place empty, excessive, non-nutritious calories, and even harmful substances into our bodies denies the power of GOD that we say we have living within us. Yes, I am mindful that Scripture speaks of occasional feasting . . . it also teaches frequent fasting. How can GOD deliver, rescue, and redeem us from hell and damnation and be so weak He cannot give us victory over a second plate of boneless chicken wings? Don’t you see with me that we must NOW, today begin to live in victory? If we do not, what evidence do we have to offer people around us who do not know JESUS?

Let me say it this way: We must love The LORD our GOD more than we love sugar and flour.

I read this to my beloved and he replied that it’s not just food and drink, this could be applied to anything in our lives. I wonder if he meant football and golf?

23 Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,24 because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Whoever does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism. Colossians 3 Source

Employment

Among the people of the infant church, like it or not, some of them were slaves. They were the property of another. Yet even in that state of subservience, JESUS had set them free in Spirit, even while they remained slaves. And He gave them instructions. Here is one such instruction.

22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men, 24 because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Whoever does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism. Colossians 3 source

Perhaps today you are not owned by another and JESUS has indeed set you free in Spirit. Perhaps today you are employed; you are an employee and you work for a wage. Here is His instruction to us. We may substitute the word slaves, for employees.

Enjoy your day at work. In HIM you can.

Always Salty

The right amount of salt makes everything taste better.

Standing alone and out of context (which by the way, is NOT the best way to read Scripture), are two words I want to speak about this morning.
Always and Salt.
Your speech must always, this is what The LORD says.
What does He mean, always?
Has He commanded us to ALWAYS speak correctly?

YES

I’m just saying what I see.
And we shall give an account for every idle word.  (Matthew 12:36)
If that does not make us thankful for the Blood of Jesus that cleanses every repentant sinner I don’t know what would!

So yes, always.  So how does this walk out for us?
Here’s what I see. I hope it helps.
We walk this out by accepting the GRACE (another word for Grace is GOD’s POWER) of GOD to be continually practicing our speech.
Continually practicing speaking what HE wants us to say, not what WE want to say to every person crossing our path.
It’s a tall order but He would not have said it if He didn’t mean it AND if He was not able to empower us to learn to obey Him, moment by moment.
We have no excuse.
We are to continually practice always speaking with grace – GOD’s Grace – His power within us.

Salt. What about salt?

salt

Salt gives flavor. It also helps heal, even preserves.
Our words are to give flavor to conversations. Our words are to help heal wounds, not make wounds. Our words are to preserve – to help rescue people from dying, or at least give them the Good News that JESUS SAVES.

The Right Amount of Salt Always enhances and by GOD’s GRACE, we can practice till we see Him Face to face.
And let me just be honest — this message stings (as it should) because I have not been practicing it well, BUT by His GRACE, I shall learn better!

Take care, My Friends, Kathie
