I am offering you a selection from Guidepost this morning:
“One day in late summer, my 16-year-old son, John, and I were hiking in the rugged Green Mountains that surround our home here in Vermont. Although the forecast had been for good weather, the sky became cloudy soon after we started. The temperature dropped and rain began to fall, leaving us cold and wet. In the late afternoon, we finally reached the cabin where we had planned to spend the night. The rain had stopped, so John set off to catch some fish at a nearby pond while I stayed behind to build a fire.
An hour later, I woke from a doze to find it was pitch dark and John hadn’t come back. When he didn’t answer my repeated calls from the cabin’s porch, I panicked. He’s and experienced hiker, I told myself. He couldn’t be lost! Stepping back inside, I lighted candles, then rummaged for a flashlight so that I could go out and search for my lost son.
Before I could head out, though, I heard footsteps on the porch and John burst into the cabin. He had lost his way in the dark and hadn’t known what to do–until he saw the light of the flickering candles.
I learned something important that day. We’re never too old or experienced to get lost in a world that seems to get darker every day. But we can help one another by keeping our own light shining:a word of encouragement or praise, a sharing of Scripture, a promise to pray, a story of how God has helped. No matter how small, it can lead someone home . . . to the welcoming arms of God.
*Thank You, Lord, for those who have lit candles for me in my dark times. Today I want to have my candles ready for someone who needs them. –John Bramblett”

Sunday evening is winding down and I’m here for a quick hello I think. Another full weekend at the Thompson house – so blessed and grateful.
Can you believe it? September 26, 2011. More and more I am thinking about the passing of time and how precious and purposeful ABBA intends for our lives to be. What is that line? We’ve only one life, it soon will be past, only what’s done for Christ will last. Either I did not know or I’d forgotten whichever the case, this poem is new to me tonight. Please use this link – click HERE and take in C.T. Studd’s poem: Only What’s Done for Christ will last.
I think one of my favorite stanzas of the poem is this one:
Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, “twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
See that line bringing Thee pleasure on Thy Throne? I like imagining myself doing that. Do you?
A verse to ponder today:
Micah 6:8 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

People need us to be praying. Click HERE and see who. I am adding a name – Penni.
