Choose Wisely

As I write, our Facebook feeds tell us one is dead and one injured; our major Interstate (North and South for miles) is closed; HazMat has relieved us with news: no hazard substance to fear.

Of this I am certain this dear man did not step up into his vehicle this morning expecting to die today. Earlier this morning, JT and I attended the funeral of a sweet friend’s mother.

People. Death. Is. Certain.

The testimony given at the service this morning assured me my friend’s mother safely arrived in Heaven on Sunday.  The Minister explained well the way of Salvation. Jesus paid it all. Paid for all the sins of mankind. We could say He wrote a blank check for each of us.  There’s no catch but there is a condition. We must individually accept the check, endorse it, and take it to the Bank.

We accept the check by faith, knowing we NEED The Savior, that we cannot pay our own sin debt.  By faith we endorse that check with our mouths confessing our faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST not just as the Savior of the world but MY Savior; and we take that check to the bank when we say Thank You LORD JESUS for saving me.

Death is certain.
Two Destinations.
Individually we choose.
Choose wisely.

Romans 10:  because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation.  (Amp) Source

My. My.

Hebrews 10: 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.  source

Sunday. A day to gather for Sunday School, for worship in music and for preaching. That’s usually the order in today’s church meetings.  Verse 25 says it’s the manner of some to forsake this gathering together.  My. My. What would the penman of Hebrews think of us today?!

What is it with this forsaking? Why do folks forsake?

What if the forsaking comes because we were going for the wrong purpose. So what is the right reason to go, especially if your soul is just not into it, shall we say?

Obedience.

Simple. Really. The Word says assemble together. What part of that do we not understand?

It ain’t those parts of the Bible that I can’t understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand. ~~~ Mark Twain  source

Hearing Hebrews 10 read soothed me and fed me.  Here. Enjoy.
