The 5th

Mark 11:31 (KJV) 31 And they reasoned with themselves,  . . .  source

And that’s where they went wrong —-

Allow me to give you a little background.  In this chapter, it was Jesus’ final week in Jerusalem prior to His Crucifixion. The people celebrated His triumphant entry into the City; the Scribes and Chief Priests questioned Him, trying to find fault in Him.  When we arrive at verse 31 they have asked Him a question and He has wisely responded with a question.

Hence, they reasoned among themselves and determined they would be unable to answer His question. They took the 5th we might say.

It is the same for us, as long as we take the 5th refusing to incriminate or shall we say refusing to own our incrimination, we will never know the truth. Nor shall we be enabled to answer GOD’s call when He says:

18 “Come now, let us reason together,” says Adonai“Though your sins be like scarlet, they will be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they will become like wool. Isaiah 1:18 (TLV)  source

I John 1: 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)  source

I John 1: 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (KJV)  source

The owning of our sin, I suppose, is the hardest of all things in this life to do.  But if we want fellowship with the GOD of CREATION, we will.

 I John 1: 3 What we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so you may have fellowship with us. Indeed, our fellowship is with the Father and His Son, Yeshua the Messiah. (TLV)  source

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you [us] with inner strength through his Spirit. bracketed mine Ephesians 3:16 (NLT) source

Post Script:  Let us not go wrong as did they reasoning among themselves —- Let us learn to make the Scriptures our plumb line for reasoning a response to the many questions of our day.

Palm Sunday

If you will, read this passage.
Read it from the frame of Yeshua, a young Jewish man, (yes, the young God Man) reading the scroll of Isaiah and seeing Himself.

4“The Lord God has given Me
The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak
A word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned.
The Lord God has opened My ear;
And I was not rebellious,
Nor did I turn away.
I gave My back to those who struck Me,
And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;
I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

“For the Lord God will help Me;
Therefore I will not be disgraced;
Therefore I have set My face like a flint,
And I know that I will not be ashamed.
He is near who justifies Me;
Who will contend with Me?
Let us stand together.
Who is My adversary?
Let him come near Me.
Surely the Lord God will help Me;
Who is he who will condemn Me?
Indeed they will all grow old like a garment;
The moth will eat them up.

Isaiah 50  source NKJV

How much humility would it take to read those words and know that you know that you know that it is you; that you are the One the GOD of the TEXT is describing and identifying?

Now read again verses 4 and 5 and see yourself hidden in Christ and speaking those words over yourself instead of the many negative, harmful self-deprecating things we say to ourselves.  Yes, it slapped me tenderly in a much-needed way this lovely Saturday morning – one day before Palm Sunday. There’s much to take in  . . .

  4“The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened My ear; And I was not rebellious, Nor did I turn away.  source

Let us be awash today in the love and authority of our Father!

Now Turned Away

You should surely read Isaiah 12 today. imageJust six (6) verses. It won’t take you long.

Perhaps you will hang out on one verse; albeit, that won’t be easy, all six of them jump from the page. I’m hanging out with this one for today:

Isaiah 12 (CJB)

12 On that day you will say:

“I thank you, Adonai, because, although you were angry at me, your anger is now turned away; and you are comforting me.

DADDY GOD is not angry with me. And if you are in His Son He is  not angry with you. Only sin makes GOD angry. And when our sins have been put on JESUS, there is no reason for the Father to be angry with us. His anger has been turned away and He comforts us!

GOD is not mad at us!

So we can rejoice, relax, be comforted and enjoy His Company today! That is such good news; aren’t you just looking for someone to tell? Me too!

Until then ~ ~ ~ Kathie

Dry Mouth & Flaky Lips

Wednesday, March 21 2007 Devotion

Internet Daughters of the King

Not pleasant, but it happens and it happens to me more often now than it did. I think that is because at the beginning of this year I consistently significantly increased my daily intake of water and so now in the mornings when I awaken — I want water. My mouth is dry and sometimes, especially if I have neglected the day before to take in the usual amount … My lips are flaky too. But Water will fix that.

And with these thoughts, I went to my online text finder – thirsty – and the first reference that appeared was this:
2 Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, “Give us water, that we may drink.”
So Moses said to them, “Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the LORD?”
3 And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said, “Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”
4 So Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!” Exodus 17
(NKJV)  source

And my first thoughts on reading that was yeah, that’s the way it is all right when my intake of The Water of Life is decreased, I COMPLAIN! So if you find yourself complaining more these days, check your Word intake, you may be suffering from dry mouth and flaky lips. Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just telling you what came this morning.

And Isaiah 5:
12 The harp and the strings, The tambourine and flute, And wine are in their feasts;
But they do not regard the work of the LORD, Nor consider the operation of His hands.
13 Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst.  source

It’s just truth, without The Water of the Word, we dry up. BUT look at this:
Isaiah 41:
17 “ The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers in desolate heights, And fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land springs of water.  source

How beautiful! When we get dry mouths, and flaky lips, when we find ourselves complaining more than we used to, and we have looked around and we can’t find a ‘water bottle’ anywhere — stop and cry out to Him and He will be there with a river, with fountains in the midst of our dry valley, in the midst of our wilderness we will find a pool of water, in our dry and parched land, He will bring us Springs of Living Water. Oh, my! He is AWESOME!

There are more, more Scriptures that give us precious promises to aid us in our condition of dry mouth and flaky lips, but this morning I am going to leave you with this one.
Isaiah 44:
2 Thus says the LORD who made you And formed you from the womb, who will help you:
‘ Fear not, O Jacob My servant; And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring;
4 They will spring up among the grass Like willows by the watercourses.’   source

It is happening my dear ones. The thirsty ones are finding Him just this way! And dry mouths and flaky lips are revived!

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU,
Kathie
