The Back Door

Sometimes I come at Scripture backwards, shall we say, like coming in the back door. Let me explain.

Matthew 22: 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  Link to Text

I am thinking in this moment that is exactly what we do, especially when we have a god other than Him.
(Remember now, I said backwards . . . back door.)
The evil one does all he can to see to it that we put other gods before GOD, that we give those gods our heart, mind, and soul. I mean, we go after those little g gods with all we got — careers, cars, houses, prestige, making money, pleasures, comforts, etc., etc.

So, this being true, take heart, my dear Friends, because when we give our allegiance to the LORD GOD, when we surrender to His LORDSHIP, to the GOD and Savior, HE WILL do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can think or ask (Ephesians 3:20-21) to enable us to do just what He said: love Him with all our hearts, soul, and mind. We can REST in this. We can believe this. We can receive this with great joy!

Is my back door making sense to you?
We know from experience that the evil one gives us more help than we want to do the opposite of what GOD says to do.
SO, since the evil one does that, we KNOW the Father will go infinitely beyond and in the other direction to enable us to obey His Word.

Of course! He is going to help us to do every good thing He wants us to do!

And to all that, I can only say, Thank You, Father; we are depending on You.

7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 BSB

Did you read that?!

If we walk in the light, if we have fellowship with Yeshua, His Blood cleanses us from ALL sin! Not some, but ALL! ALL SIN!
And on the heels of that thought, comes this: Blood! He died! He suffered untold atrocities and agony, so we could be flippant about our sins?!
Absolutely not! A zillion times a zillion, not!!

I wonder if you have experienced the same as I have — participating in a ‘Christian’ setting, a life group, a Sunday School class, etc., and there’s talk about ‘small’ sins.
You know, the kind where someone gets your food order mixed up, and you are delayed or, worse yet, charged too much money for less food than you ordered, and what happens?
Flesh has a fit!
Choice words are spoken, and clear, convincing body language carries all the way out the door.

( Ephesians 4: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.)

And we, hearing this sitting in the discussion room, give out a low chuckle. You know what I mean; I am sure you do.
In Christian settings, we often snicker at such slight indiscretions.

We all know we shouldn’t behave this way. Moreover, I am convinced we should be exercised by the mention of these and cease and desist from these behaviors.
Have we deceived ourselves into thinking these behaviors are not sin?
Do we only acknowledge the big sins (especially the below-the-belt ones) as real sin?
I’m just making an observation from the Scriptures and life happening around me, in hopes it will encourage us all to remember the BLOOD of YESHUA – the infinite price He paid for us.

That being said. . . Let us rejoice if we have been cleansed from ALL our sins, and because we have been cleansed, let’s be inspired to live holy, happily ever after.

11Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Hebrews 12:11 KJV

Avenues

Allow me to draw a conclusion and make a pitch to us.

Turn on any form of digital media, go to a store, or drive on America’s roadways, and see voluminous expressions of evil.
Is it any wonder people are overwhelmed — absolutely — sick. of. it!
And then there is this Scripture verse.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

I see two avenues.
Let us not succumb to evil and become participants in it.

Instead, let us combat it in this world by doing good—remember the Text: Yeshua went about doing good. (Acts 10:38)

Avenue 2: Let us not see the rampant evil, take to our beds, and pull the covers over our heads.

Instead, we can throw off those covers, don our armor (see Ephesians 6:13 -17), step into the shoes chosen for us by our Father, get out there, and do some good.
Shine some light on those groping in darkness.

One more word: did you notice the Text says we CAN overcome evil WITH good?

That’s my conclusion and my pitch.

From the Deck

I planted myself on the deck today for some devoted time — much later than my usual,  I won’t bore you with my sourdough bread story that kept me up late. 
I went out to the deck. It is not a fancy view, but the greens in all their majestic display made my whole soul breathe deep and smile. 

And I said, Father, what must Your Home be like?! I am imagining He said, ‘ It’s your Home too. ‘ There are some passages of Scripture to support my imagination.  I’ll get to those in a bit. 

This planet is on course for destruction as we know it, and has been since the sin of man marred it. These thoughts were full of sorrow, but then came the glorious truth! 

Man has indeed marred this earth. Man mars everything he touches, and will continue to do so for as long as man remains under the dominion of satan.  BUT!

The glorious truth! When we who have been born again get to Heaven, we will not mar the place! We will not lessen its value! We will not deplete it! We will bring no harm of any kind or degree to that Perfect Place! Father GOD has and is continuing to build us so we can live there without sin, without doing any damage whatsoever to that beautiful place.
The Place of Perfect Loveliness that exceeds the beauty here by eternity!  
You do agree that this creation here is beautiful, right? Then, Heaven can only far exceed our best imaginations! 

I am glad I came to the deck today! It’s beautiful out here, but HOME—well, we will see just how lovely it is one day soon.  A day that will not end.
