Rehab, the Harlot

Good morning.

We are in Joshua this morning.

Be strong and courageous said The LORD to Joshua.

Verse 5 is a promise: 5 No one shall stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Wouldn’t you like a promise like that? Can you think of a similar New Testament promise, by the way, the Old Testament promise is still valid.   Hebrews 13:5

Do you think the promise of verse 5 helped Joshua to be strong and courageous? Do you have verses of Scripture memorized that help you to be strong and courageous?

Chapter 2 of Joshua opens with Rehab welcoming the Spies and the Spies have no names.
Actually, I am certain they do have names but their names are not recorded for us.  Our names don’t have to be known for GOD to do great work, do they?

Rehab, the harlot, that’s the name she is known by, but what I remember about Rehab is who she became when she believed GOD.
Who could we become if we would just believe GOD?

Until Next time, Holy hugs, Kathie

Scarlet Thread

I am continuing to read Genesis. Amazing!
It’s so alive. So today!
I hope you are reading your Bibles too and that the Scriptures are more real, more alive than ever before.

What do you know about the Scarlet Thread? Genesis 38:28.

Do you know of another sighting of a Scarlet Thread? How about Joshua 2:18?

Yes, indeed, a Scarlet Thread is running through the Bible.
I hope you will watch for it as you read the Word daily.

Good-Night-2
Holy hugs and prayers,
Kathie

Outcasts

I read a portion of Luke 19 this morning; the place that says Yeshua entered Jericho and was passing through and I had some weird thoughts even for me.

I wondered if JESUS thought of Rahab, his great, great, great – ever how many greats it was Grandmother.
You know the story, right?
The spies came to check out the city prior to the marching around it and the ram horn blowing that GOD used to bring down the walls of that very strong city.
Do you also remember that Rahab and her family were spared because she had helped the spies?

Would you like to read the account? Check out Joshua Chapters 2 and 6.

So I wondered if JESUS thought of her and the account of the walls of Jericho falling as He was entering the City.

Strange.
Or is it?

Rahab the Harlot as she is often called, converted.
She believed the WORD she heard about GOD and it was counted to her as Righteousness.

And centuries later Yeshua went to Jericho and another Outcast believed. Luke 19:1-10

I also read an article entitled

Rahab – The Harlot in the Genealogy of Christ

if you are interested.

And there you have it – a bit of my wonderings as I was reading Scripture this morning.
Do you wonder things as you read Scripture?

I hope you do. I hope as you read your Bible its pages open and you see and experience the people and the accounts provided for us so we may truly BELIEVE and no longer be Outcasts.

Day 16

Day 16 of The Giving of Thanks.

African Violets.
The violets and more represented in this picture give me reasons to give thanks. These purple lovelies are a gift from one gone to Heaven. The framed watercolor of a fine Artist I call my friend. The shell gathered longer ago than I remember walking the beach with JT. The glass shelf, a labor of love. Memorabilia. When it brings us to thanks, it’s a really good thing.

Joshua 4

19 Now the people came up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they camped in Gilgal on the east border of Jericho. 20 And those twelve stones which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal. 21 Then he spoke to the children of Israel, saying: “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stones?’ 22 then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel crossed over this Jordan on dry land’; 23 for the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over, 24 that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”  source

And so today my desire and my hope are in days very soon that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”
