Connecting Centuries

It’s Tuesday evening here in LA (Lower Alabama) and I think I have little to say — I just wanted to put something on the page so you would perhaps gain a smile and know that you are in my thoughts and yes my prayers.
I am grateful for each of you.
My Daily Prayer Journal has you listed as The White Stone Blog Readers.

I list you that way because, well, because I don’t know all your names or even the States and Countries in which you live.
Even so, I think of you and remember you before The LORD.

I read Acts 24 today.
Paul.
What an amazing brother in Christ we have. I don’t expect to live on the same street as he in the Father’s Eternal City but surely at some time in Eternity we will run into each other and I can thank him for his faithfulness and his love for JESUS and for penning the many letters I so enjoy in this 21st Century.

Yes, my friends, this life we have in JESUS is just this real — When JESUS conquered sin, hell, death, and the grave — He connected His people, even 1st Century brothers, and sisters with 21st Century brothers and sisters.  That great CONNECTION is coming to fruition. Yes, a face-to-face gathering that will never end.

So tell me — isn’t that something to look forward to?
I think so.

Popping in just for a Saturday early evening hello.

We have internet again!!

Counting things out before the time.
I do that sometimes — do you?

We were weeks late setting out some tomato seedlings. So late that I planted one with no hope that it would survive.
Poor thing it was genuinely pitiful looking — bent over, yellowed leaves. Like I said it was pitiful! But, I planted it anyway.

Today.
Today it’s taller, green, standing, reaching for the sun and deepening its roots for nourishment.

Perhaps you are smiling by now — I am.

When we are bent over, tired, zapped — you know what I mean, don’t you?
The Son and the Water of His Word will surely perk us up — more than perk us up.

We will thrive and produce fruit!

I better go stir the sloppy joes –  my Boys are hungry.
Okay. So it’s not the healthiest meal but it is homemade and I used pasture-raised beef. :)

Rejoice and enjoy the rest of your weekend my friends.

Appropriated

I have a list.
A written list of people in my life, family, close and beloved friends, some close acquaintances, some people that friends have asked me to remember in prayer, and folks I have yet to meet but have found their way to my list.
I regularly open this list, read their names, if I can visualize their faces, and I pray for them.

Today is a particularly sobering day with my list.
Many of those names coming before me today give me no confidence of salvation for them.
I said to Father I want to see evidence of salvation.
I want to see fruit meet for repentance – fruit that is evidence that they are saved, that they have been delivered from Darkness to Light.

I am confident they know. I am confident they have heard the Gospel – repeatedly.
And then a word came  — appropriated.

Appropriated is a tricky word.
I looked it up.

At first glance, it looks like a word not applicable but on closer examination, it surely is just the word.

You see it does mean to take or make use of without authority or right.
And in that sense, it is way not applicable.

But it also means to take exclusive possession of

And that does fit. So fits!

I think many people, lots and lots of people – particularly Americans, have heard the Gospel over and over.
They are so very aware that JESUS is the Son of GOD.
They are so very aware that He died and even rose again – they celebrate Easter and Christmas.
So they have heard. They know. But they don’t know.

They don’t know because they have not APPROPRIATED the Gospel to THEMSELVES.

JESUS has not become personal to them. He is not THEIR Savior, He’s just the One who claims to be the Savior of the world.

This means these precious, loved people are still LOST.
And this disturbs me – greatly!

Do you have people in your life this way too?
What do you do?
