3:05 A.M. Again

I have not given you a copy and paste for — well, I don’t know how long, but a long while. So today I am.

This repost is dated May 18, 2007. It was 2007 when I began to write here at The White Stone blog.  I hope you enjoy this copy and paste from 14 years ago.

DEVOTION for Friday, May 18, 2007

Be Prepared. When you ask Father a question, He WILL answer you!!
And that question can be something technical, even a concept about website building that you do not understand; something that try as hard as you may you just cannot figure it out.
He may not answer you though when you are sitting at the computer. It may be long after you have closed out the screen, powered-down, and shut off the light.
It may be the morning after you have been sleeping soundly but for some reason you are awake a couple hours before the alarm, you get up, stumble into the bathroom, and boom… all of a sudden it is perfectly clear!
He has answered you! But it’s too early to go test it. So you go back to bed, go back to sleep – smiling!

Yes, when you ask Father a question – He WILL answer you! He may not answer you when you think He should and it may not be in the place you thought He would… certainly not at 3:05 a.m. in the bathroom when your discussion with Him was at the office, two days before.
No, that would not be my ideal time or place! But you know what? HE ANSWERED!
So who am I to argue with Him?! And yes I have tested it and it worked beautifully!

So, give Him time to get you to the place where you can receive His answer to your question.
There is no doubt; He knew the answer to my question from eternity past. Yes, long before computers and website building programs were given to the mind of men, Father knew all about them, all the answers to all the questions to ever be asked.
Why would He wait until 3:05 a.m. to answer me?
I don’t know and that one He may not answer until eternity future – no matter. He is my Father and my God and He LOVES ME!

So! Have you asked Him a question He has not answered yet? He will… just as soon as He gets you to your 3:05 a.m. Remember… He is YOUR Father and YOUR God and HE LOVES YOU!

Psalm 143: 1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. (KJV) [source]

Whatever the question – whatever the prayer – whatever the circumstance, remember:

Psalm 69: 12 They who sit in [the city’s] gate talk about me, and I am the song of the drunkards.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord. At an acceptable and opportune time, O God, in the multitude of Your mercy and the abundance of Your loving-kindness hear me, and in the truth and faithfulness of Your salvation answer me.
14 Rescue me out of the mire, and let me not sink; let me be delivered from those who hate me and from out of the deep waters. (Amplified Bible) [source]

“True prayer is simply a quiet, sincere, genuine conversation with God. It is a two-way dialogue between friends.” W. Phillip Keller

HIS MINISTRY TO YOU

The Staff of Life

Wheat Berries,  A Grain Mill Attachment, and Freshly Baked Bread – for these I am giving thanks.
Freshly milled flour, yeast, some honey, a little salt, warm water, and soon the fragrance of bread fills the kitchen and perhaps the den too. :)

Bread, the staff of life.
Bread.
Truly. There’s just something lovely about it.

I remember thinking some long uncertain time ago that somehow I am not surprised that BREAD has gotten a bad rap.  And why not? With every morsel of bread, we eat we should be reminded of Our Savior, The Bread of Life. No wonder bread is slandered.
It’s been called fattening, and other unfavorable names.  Decades ago when the berries were modified and the fields were sprayed with pesticides and plowed with chemical fertilizers – well, I must agree adulterated bread is deadly.

BUT for me with organic, unmodified wheat berries milled fresh, that bread nourishes the body, brightens the soul, and reminds the spirit of
The Bread of Life.
Yes. For this I am thankful.

O taste and see that The LORD is good. See Psalm 34:8

Not Just a Writing Prompt

Windows and sunshine.

I’m not kidding.
This very sight is one of the things for which I give thanks – often.
Not just today as a writing prompt. Even though it is.

How lavishly fortunate we are to have a place, a roof over our heads with walls and windows in all our rooms to let in that glorious light from the sun that warms and comforts us, that helps grow our foods, that gives us much needed Vitamin D to ward off diseases.

Today, we live in a place of extravagance, and yet with all our extravagance without sun, moon, air, and water – we soon would not be at all.

Could we today give thanks for the common things; things that we have closed our eyes to; things that we only miss when they are gone?

So. For what are YOU giving thanks today?

Just in case you are interested 48 times in the KJV we find give thanks referenced.
Here are a few and a link for the rest.

I’ll Take That

Roots in a glass.
Yep. That’s one of the things for which I am giving thanks today.

I harvested the last of my basil last week or possibly the week before, brought it into the kitchen, and deposited the few stems in a glass jar.  Many years ago in a Friend’s kitchen, I admired her basil growing beautifully green and healthy in a glass.
Later I tried it too — but failed.

But this time I have ROOTS!

Roots in a glass.  More than roots, I have leaves! Albeit, I do not have as many leaves, or are they as beautiful as Carolyn’s but perhaps with time, sunshine, and water more will grow.

For now, I have these and I am grateful.

They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
    bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.  Psalm 1 (source)

I’ll take that!

Psalm 1 is speaking of something more than my roots in a glass so may I encourage you to read it in context.
