Closed Windows

Day 16 – Closed Windows

Today windows gave cause for me to give thanks. Actually a closed window is what brought on the thanks. This particular window opened even a little would not have pleased me today. Opened, it would have been an invitation to grand to pass up for Mr. Lizard. The screen was insufficient so there he was all stretched out enjoying himself on MY side of the screen. Oh yes I am SO thankful for closed windows!

Closed windows are good boundaries. They keep out unwanted(s) and yet yield themselves to the passing through of light and vision.

Perhaps all God’s Children need to make use of some closed windows. Ponder that a bit and share your thoughts with me. If the comment (reply) window below is a bit intimidating, my email works.

1 John 1:4-6 (New American Standard Bible)
4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.
5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;

Plans

Day 9 – Plans

Plans that work. Plans of action that we put into play and they work! I told you on Day 3 that I was thankful for online friends in particular Flylady dot net and I am. But what is really cool and neat and makes me smile is Fly Lady’s Plan as adapted for me and by me is WORKING and I am rejoicing!

Plans.
We all need them. Without them we are tossed about like a wave on the sea by every wind that blows. And it makes life messy and the house too. :)

Let me really jump in here. It’s godly to make plans – holy plans that is. Plans to do good. Plans to build. Plans to bless. Plans focused on bringing order instead of chaos. And to have no plans or to have plans and fail to carry them out to the best you can with God’s help — Well, that’s not what JESUS did or does. And we should not either. Do I need to say more?

Jeremiah 29:11 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
11 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

So here’s your challenged for today – be thankful, pray, make some plans and in His Strength work that plan — even baby steps are better than no steps.  :)

Ecclesiastes 9:10 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

Highly Fragrant Candles

November 2.

A very special day for me. Seventeen years ago today a man-child was born – my first-born GRAND. I gladly gave him my heart, he still has it – albeit he does have to share :) now.  Happy Birthday, Jeff. Your Mamaw loves you!!

Yesterday I said I was thankful for clean clothes.

Today (day 2) I say I am thankful for candles, highly fragrant and made in the USA ones.

Some translations read candle, and some read lamp; my ‘considered’ opinion is that lamp is most appropriate but for the sake of congruity here, read candle for lamp in the passages following.  (  :) humor me)

Psalm 18:28 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
28 LORD, You light my lamp; my God illuminates my darkness.
via Psalm 18:28 HCSB – LORD You light my lamp; my God – Bible Gateway.

Proverbs 31: Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
17 She draws on her strength and reveals that her arms are strong.
18 She sees that her profits are good, and her lamp never goes out at night.
via Proverbs 31:17-19 HCSB – She draws on her strength and reveals – Bible Gateway.

Ephesians 5: Amplified Bible (AMP)
1 THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].
2 And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.
via Ephesians 5:1-3 AMP – THEREFORE BE imitators of God copy Him – Bible Gateway.

Psalm 145:3 Amplified Bible (AMP)
3 Great is the Lord and highly to be praised; and His greatness is [so vast and deep as to be] unsearchable.

Free Online Dictionary Fear

Psalm 25:12 Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
via Ps 25 NASB – Prayer for Protection Guidance and – Bible Gateway.

Isn’t that an interesting phrase? Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.

Fear? Regular run of the mill fear?  Hmmm.

Fear: A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger. via Fear – definition of Fear by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

No. Not that kind of fear. This kind:

My Hebrew Lexicon gives the Hebrew word for our English word fear as ary, transliterated yare’, meaning to stand in awe of, to honor, to respect.

So now. Let me give you a KT paraphrase of verse 12.

The man who is in awe of God, who honors God, who respects God will seek the LORD in all his (her) decisions; he will inquire of the LORD BEFORE the decision is made; he will pray saying, ‘LORD which should I choose?’ And even before he knows the LORD’s answer, he is determined to do it.

Further he/she who fears the LORD can expect this:

13 His soul will abide in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.
via Ps 25 NASB – Prayer for Protection Guidance and – Bible Gateway.

The one who fears the LORD lives prosperously. I like that! But what does it mean? This is what I think: that he who fears the LORD, his whole being is lavishly loved by God and he (or she) knows it! — whether she be in the midst of a trial or beyond the trial; when supplies are abundant or when there is scarcity. Through it all, she who lives LOVED passes it on to her children and they are well likely to receive this land of prosperous living for themselves.

It’s believing we are lavishly loved, always and forever, that keeps us free of Free Online Dictionary fear.

So, how free am I? How free are you?

Click HERE and pray, please. And this is Wednesday again so I am praying for you by name (or email address).  Love and provisions to you all in JESUS Name.

Keep braving the dark with The LIGHT,
Kathie
