Music to Our Ears

And the words of the song we sang were holy, holy, holy, merciful, and mighty, and sitting there on the pew I started stringing words hoping to convey to you what was comforting my soul.

He. You know the He who is holy, holy, holy, right?

Isaiah 6:3  (KJV)

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Happy, happier, happiest. There are no such superlatives for holy. So the English translators gave us holy, holy, holy. Or so I’ve heard.

I thought I’d find us a dictionary definition of holy so I went to Webster’s Dictionary the 1828 edition.
I was confident that I would get a more accurate description there than in today’s dictionaries. I was right. In part Noah Webster defined the word holy this way:

free from sin and sinful affections

That says it.
Is anybody you’ve seen in the mirror or across the table free from sin and sinful affections?
No?
Me either.

None except GOD. Holy, holy, holy.

But that’s not all He is.
He’s merciful and mighty.

Merciful to forgive a sinner like me. Webster said:

disposed to pity offenders

Yep! The holy, holy, holy One is disposed to pity offenders.
A lot of folks I think don’t know that about Him.
We should tell them!

And more than pity, His mercy is coupled with might.
Mighty enough to save us and transform us!
And what He starts He is going to finish.
You can count on that.

Philippians 1:6 (KJV)

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Holy, holy, holy, merciful, and mighty.
That’s who He is.
Shall we Rejoice and Rest in that today my Friends?

LIGHT

Early in the morning I will celebrate the Light.

Lyrics to a song. Good counsel.

Early in the morning, I will awaken and celebrate the LIGHT.
Celebrate that again I have awaken. Awaken to the light, awaken to the LIGHT Who made the light. Awaken to the LIGHT Who brought me from Darkness to celebrate in the light with the LIGHT.

And if you know this is more than a play on words, and you got this LIGHT that made light, that’s good. Very good! :)

Early in the morning or late in the evening, I will celebrate the LIGHT.
I like this. :)

12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”  [source]

Better Days

1 It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming our love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, Psalm 92 NIV [source]

I read these verses a few days ago. I’m still enjoying them. I’m still mulling over the life-altering, life-bettering key found there.

Proclaiming in the morning and rehearsing at night.

Proclaiming in the morning JESUS, I love You! (see John 14:21)

And when the evening has come and we lay our heads to sleep, let us rehearse to ourselves that gracious old hymn Great is Thy Faithfulness LORD unto me. Let us remember and remind ourselves as we drift off to sleep the many ways He was faithful to us.

THEN based on the authority of the Word, we will see better days.

Here’s to Better Days! :)

I Reckon

I reckon.

That’s what I heard Charles say. Charles Billingsley. I was watching/listening to a You Tube. Charles was in concert at a church in Macon, Georgia. And right about 30 minutes in he was encouraging the congregation and he said reckon. And I was off!

Reckon. (Click here for Webster’s definition)

Some would say that’s a pretty southern word. It’s a godly word too. The Scripture passage I was thinking of was Romans 8:18. There Paul utilized it as an accounting term. Reckon. Count it. Count it as so. By the way in the KJV you will find Reckon 33 times. Here’s a link in case you want to check it out. HERE

Romans 8: 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. [source]

And so we count and if we count it so, I reckon that reckoning will change how we live. And I reckon, I need to do some reckoning.

I reckon. Seriously smiling here. :)

Now. One more thing and I’ll press publish.

That Charles Billingsley you tube? You got an hour and 28 minutes?  I reckon it’s worth every minute I’ve invested. Perhaps you will too.

And a bit (translation: a few minutes) before the I reckon, he sings a song, and a certain portion of the lyrics is this: You wrapped my soul inside Your Arms.  I don’t know about you but upon hearing those words I was wrapped in love this morning; and not just me but I saw in those words my Girls wrapped in His Arms too. Don’t you reckon some worship was going on? :)

I reckon I better close this epistle. :)
