December’s First Monday

A quick good morning.

A request for prayer. Little Girl is taking a final this evening and would very much like for you all to pray for her that she will do her best at exam time.

And there are other matters in all our lives that I am certain need prayer.

James 5:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Tiny Kindnesses

This comes from One-Minute Devotions from Guideposts.  My beloved and I were both moved to tears as he read it this morning – thought y’all might like some praising tears too this morning.

By Pam Kidd: “The death of a friend turned my world gray. To add to my loneliness, our daughter, Keri was studying in China. Now Christmas was fast approaching.

One day, my son, Brock, called and said, “Hey, Mom, my lunch appointment just canceled. Come meet me at the mall.”

The mall was shiny and bright with Christmas cheer. I felt like a dreary fog dampening the merriment.  “Excuse me,” someone said, “I believe you dropped this.” A smiling girl handed me my glove.

A few steps more and I was engulfed in a hug. It was Virgie, who lives at our church’s home for people with disabilities. Up ahead, I spotted Brock, his eyes crinkled in delight at Virgie’s onslaught.

We ate a quick lunch, then strolled through the mall and talked. “Look at that poor tree, Brock,” I said, as we passed the Christmas Store. “It looks like Charlie Brown’s tree.” Its slightly bent trunk pointed toward the sky, but its branches were irregular and spaced far apart.

A quick hug later, Brock was on his way back to work. As I walked to my car, I passed a little girl singing “Jingle Bells.” At the door to the parking lot, a teenager rushed ahead of me and opened the door. “Have a happy Christmas,” he said.

Sitting in the car, I mentally retraced my steps: the fetched glove, the hearty hugs, Brock’s attention, the child’s song, the boy at the door. Without even knowing it, each one of those people had done something that mattered to me.

The tiniest kindness really does matter, I thought to myself.

I had errand to run, and it was growing dark by the time I neared home. When I turned into the driveway, I noticed something on our front porch. It was the tree I’d seen at the mall. There was a note attached: “Merry Christmas from Charlie Brown.”

*Father, Your everlasting kindness offers Christmas hope to us all. Thank you. — Pam Kidd”

And as Jerry finished reading I thought silently, ‘a smile to a stranger really does matter. Perhaps not alone but what if it is blended with other tiny kindnesses of others — then it really would matter.’
I want to remember that today.

You

Day 30 — You

It seems fitting to me to give thanks today for each of You on this our 30th day of Giving Thanks here at The White Stone. It all began a morning in June 2003 when I emailed four of you a few words of commentary on the verse of Scripture that spoke to me that morning. You are still with me. I am so grateful. And grateful for every one of you that have come along since. Thank you for your love and prayers all these years.

You all have been so good for me. Your accountability has kept me going to the Scriptures, perhaps without you, I would not have been faithful. Thank you for helping me.

Thank you too for the thousands of prayers that you have prayed — we don’t know all the miracles our Father, has performed just because we asked.

Thank you for your attentive spirits and words of concern and encouragement when you read between the lines sensing that I needed a word from you.  Thank you especially for your prayers in those times.

Thank you for understanding and encouraging me when I stepped out in faith to take a new name – Kathie Whitestone.

And then again when you overwhelmingly shared my happiness as I became Kathie Whitestone Thompson.
Oh, what a day!!
Our wedding day was neither traditional nor conventional, but it sure was fun!
And for these 30 days of November perhaps we have like so given thanks.

Well, Dear Ones, thank you.  I hope we have many more years together to share JESUS and His Word. Come to think about it — we have all eternity! Now that’s a reason to give thanks!!!

Isaiah 57:  21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
14 And shall say, `Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way; take up the stumbling block out of the way of My people.'”
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One who inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Our love to you all. Let’s keep giving thanks.

HOME

Day 29 — Home

So thankful, so glad to be home.
Home.
A safe place; a place of refuge from the world.
Home.
A place with pleasant privileges and responsibilities to perform – and time to do them!  Makes me smile big.  :)

I can say no more than this: there is a middle-aged woman for whom I would like for you to pray. Home for her is in real jeopardy. My prayer is for full truth to be revealed and if her present Home is justified it will remain. Moreover that she will experience JESUS at Home in her heart through all this.

And now that I am Home. We can look and plan and do Christmas!
Home for Christmas – images of more than sugar plums are dancing in my head. Giving thanks for all that surrounds Home, it can only make Christmas full of joy this year.

John 14:
23 Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.
via John 14:22-24 AMP – Judas not Iscariot asked Him Lord how – Bible Gateway.

And all of us said: Amen!
