IDOK DEVOTION FOR THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 2008

Do you remember the Parable of the Sower? Luke 8: 5 “A sower went out to sow his seed. As he was sowing, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the sky ate it up. 6 Other seed fell on the rock; when it sprang up, it withered, since it lacked moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns; the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. 8 Still other seed fell on good ground; when it sprang up, it produced a crop: 100 times [what was sown].” As He said this, He called out, “Anyone who has ears to hear should listen!
I think we can see in this Parable a description of a lost one coming to salvation as in the seed falling on good ground and I think we can also see in this parable some ‘heart soil’ conditions of Christians. Sometimes we, Christians, hear a sermon and it’s a GOOD WORD SEED and we know it but before the SEED can take root in our hearts it is swept away or choked out by busy-ness or trials and troubles, etc. This does not have to be. We can hear that WORD spoken to us by the Holy Spirit and we can give that seed fertile heart soil. But how do we do that? By persistently meditating on the Word Seed we heard. And when we do, it will take root and it will produce a 100 fold harvest. (That’s what Beth told me during the Simulcast) And I want a 100 fold harvest. Don’t you? One of the cares or troubles that may hinder our SEEDS from producing a 100 fold is the fear that we were mistaken, that God was not really speaking to us. Abba addressed that very concern with me at the Simulcast. Are there times you fear that you cannot (or did not) hear from God? Here’s a WORD SEED for you. Persistently meditate upon it and it will bring you a 100 fold harvest.
Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. It is to the ‘babes’ that Father reveals Himself not those who are wise in their own eyes, thinking they know just what to do. Are you a Babe, an Infant, a Toddler in Christ? Or have you been saved many years? At every level of growth, knowing Father’s Will on any issue is the same: keep meditating on THE WORD and Father’s Will will be revealed to you. To get us started on our journey to a 100 fold harvest, Beth suggested that each morning before ‘life’ has a chance to steal our attention, that we open our Bibles, (a Bible Reading Devotional Guide could be helpful) ask the Holy Spirit to ‘lift’ a word, a phrase or verse off the page for us for that day and when He does, write that verse on a card and take it with us wherever we go, re-reading (meditating on) it often throughout the day. This may be a new concept to some but with practice, I know we can do it! So how’s your heart soil – is it fertile for SEED?
Father, only You know the hearts of our IDOKs today; only You can impart this Word to us and I leave that to You to do as You will. Thank You again for Your Grace and Mercy. Thank You for Beth. Thank You for lifting her up to minister Your Word so faithfully. I pray for her to continue on and on to feed and encourage us. And we pray for these by name, some are on going requests for well being, for family restoration, redemption from addictions, grace to live and learn in prison, chronic illness and disease, wayward children yet to surrender themselves to You in salvation or godly practices, and our IDOK Troops, abroad and at home, the State of Israel, the State of America, Missionaries and Churches, Pastors and Leaders, career questions, financial plans and decisions – it’s all here, LORD, and for each we pray for Your Will to be done. One more thought. Someone told me once if I knew how to worry, I already knew how to meditate the Scriptures – use the same ‘player’ just a different ‘recording’.
