Without a doubt I know this one from Just Between God & Me by Sandra Drescher is for me, for us today. (1977 by The Zondervan Corporation. Grand Rapids, Michigan)
Sad In Love
My newest griefs to Thee are old; My last transgression of Thy law, Though wrapped in thoughts most secret fold, Thine eyes with pitying sadness saw.
These words of H.M. Kimball portray a God of compassion. When I sin against His laws, God isn’t angry, thinking of revenge. He is sad, thinking only of love.
When I sin, I almost wish God would be harsh. Then I’d feel I got what I deserved. But God is love. In love I want to do only that which makes Him happy, not sad.
May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to You, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14 LB)
Forgive me, Father, for the times I’ve made You sad. I want to do only what makes You happy. Amen.
Holy hugs, kt.
