I shared this at KAT’s Meows, I am inclined to share it with you too.

I have a continuing burden regarding immodesty, particularly in women professing faith in JESUS CHRIST as Savior and Lord. I cannot recall a recent service that I have attended that I did not see women and teens wearing clothing that gave me cause to grieve.

Michelle Duggar addresses well my heart on this. On pages 100 and 101, she (in part) says Modesty Matters. I couldn’t agree more. Allow me to quote:

“Modesty is important! Our goal is to dress to draw attention to our countenance.”

Yes! Michelle!

I have an ongoing urge to ask my sisters in Christ the following questions:

When you dress in low necklines and short hems, what are you thinking?
What goes through your mind when you look in the mirror before you step out your door?
I mean to be blunt here: Do you intend to call attention to your breasts and your thighs? Do you not know that such cheapens your testimony that JESUS is the love of your life? Do you not know that it tells your husband and/or your future husband that your stuff is not meant for just him?
Do you want to entice men and boys around you to sin?
Do you value who you are in CHRIST JESUS so little?

No, I am not mad at you and no I’m not a prude (my beloved can testify to that!) I’m just sad and grieving at this rampant disobedience in the church of JESUS CHRIST.

Michelle further said and I agree:

“We believe that a man’s physical drives are excited by what he sees, and it is defrauding for a woman to wear clothing that accents her body, instead of bringing attention to her countenance. Defrauding means “stirring up sensual desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled.”

If you have said yes to JESUS in salvation, I urge you to pray about this and ask Him for a modesty guideline.

This is mine: If when I lean over even a little breast tissue shows, my neckline is too low. If when I sit down the flesh above my kneecap is exposed, my hemline is too short.

Simple, isn’t it?

Larry Ray

He was 18. School had just started. He only needed two credits to graduate; so by 10:00 he was nearly home. August 4, 1965 my brother, Larry, made it all the way home to JESUS. I still miss him.

Larry was born with only one kidney and by age 12 that one kidney ceased to work properly. There were no transplants back them and so in the winter Larry missed lots of school; too sick to get out of bed. So his last year of high school he only attended two early morning classes and he was then free to go home. And on that Wednesday morning, there on the road at the church the man rounded the curve on Larry’s side and Larry died. The man was driving a gravel truck, as we called them back then, and he was drunk. It happened fast.  I was 13. He was 18.

The Friday night before the Wednesday, there had been another fatal crash. That one the fault of the young man driving. It was so tragic. And Larry had said, I don’t know when I will go but I won’t go drinking and I won’t go driving too fast and I KNOW where I’m going. And when Larry went, a young man who heard Larry’s words, came to find JESUS. He said he wanted to be able to say what Larry had said. I don’t know where that young man now 46 years older is but Larry I do. Praising JESUS and waiting.

2 Samuel 12:19 David noticed that his attendants were whispering among themselves, and he realized the child was dead. “Is the child dead?” he asked.

“Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.”

20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.
21 His attendants asked him, “Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!”
22 He answered, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, ‘Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let the child live.’
23 But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”

David worshiped. I want to do the same, ABBA.  You have been faithful all these years. Thank You for the future, thank You for the present; thank You for the past. Comfort those who mourn. And I pray, HOLY SPIRIT, that with all our losses that we bring them quickly to You, people, things and dreams so we can do as David did — give You praise.  I am remembering Diana today and Kerri and Lily and others. Thank You for the plans You have for them and for us; to prosper us, never to harm us. I pray for hopeful and cheerful hearts for every reader here in JESUS name. And, ABBA, thank You for Larry; thank You for the reunion to come and until them I pray to go about doing good in Your Name, JESUS. amen and amen.

1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
But let your heart keep my commandments;

LET your heart keep. Lately I remind myself frequently of LET. And if not in that vernacular it is STOP. Stop sinning against what JESUS has already put in you. So read the rest of this knowing that LET and STOP is the key to living it.  Me too.

2 For length of days and years of life And peace they will add to you.
3 Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
