It, him and the natural KT

You didn’t hear much from me this morning with my Sunshine post. Sometimes it happens that way. BUT this early afternoon when I read just the name of Elaine’s post I knew it was going to be one that I needed – big time!

She entitled it burning the bridge to Egypt. .   and I am offering you a link HERE to read it.  It will be worth every moment of time you invest.

This is one of the sentences that stopped me in my reading tracks:

In Egypt, obedience is mandated. In Canaan, obedience is chosen.

The world, the Evil One and my flesh, DEMAND that I obey them. And sad to say, I often – oh to my shame – often, is too shallow a description of the times I obey: it, him and the natural KT.  BUT look at that lovely word c h o s e n! Our entrance to and our remaining in Canaan is built on choosing. We find FREEDOM when we choose and BONDAGE when we bow to demands.  But that’s enough from me. PLEASE pop on over and read Elaine today. You won’t regret it.

Sunshine

I’m just stopping in for a Monday morning hello.  It must be quick to truthfully be a morning hello as there is only about 30 minutes left in this beautiful, cool Monday morning in lower Alabama. It has warmed up considerably since dawn.  I know because Hubby got his Christmas present put in place on Saturday. We are enjoying it. Okay. So it’s not that exciting this morning. Not like it was Saturday night when it was 30 something degrees with a wind chill index.  Moving right along.

I hope you all have a fine and gracious day.

The Message Bible Ecclesiastes 11:
6 Go to work in the morning and stick to it until evening without watching the clock. You never know from moment to moment how your work will turn out in the end.
7-8 Oh, how sweet the light of day, And how wonderful to live in the sunshine! Even if you live a long time, don’t take a single day for granted. Take delight in each light-filled hour, . . .   .

The Emperor’s Club

Hubby and I watched a movie in the course of the weekend. I would not bill it as a ‘Christian’ movie; however, I have some appreciation for it.

You see it is the only secular movie that I have seen in memory that so clearly depicted the consequences of a single compromise.

A compromise the teacher thought would surely help his student, encourage him, spur him on to greater achievements. After all he had earned an A – changing it to an A+ wasn’t that big a deal, right?  And yes it would prevent Student A from the competition; but Student A was already a solid achiever; he’d never know; he’d be okay, and Student A+ needed this competition.  (Oh how we can reason when we contemplate compromise.)

Student A+ did win the competition and became a powerful, rich, influential man — but never an honest man.  You see he cheated to win the competition and he saw the Headmaster and the Teacher turn a blind eye.  He knew why; his Father was  a Senator and benefactor to the School.

Twenty five years passed and the teacher finally fessed up to Student A what he had done, telling him he should have been included in that prestigious competition. The Teacher was finally free. He had finally confessed and now what would Student A do?

Well, something pretty remarkable, I think — he entrusted his own son to the tutelage of his beloved Teacher.

Compromise. It’s sin. It hurts the Compromiser and those compromised. No body wins.
At least not until repentance is received and forgiveness is given.

Any thoughts?
