I am curious as to what you think about these two thieves? I am curious if you see mankind represented in them and why.

39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”
40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”
42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!”
43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”

One thief went to paradise. One went to Hades. Why? Both thieves got the same sentence; both were hanging on a cross, one on one side of JESUS and one on the other side of JESUS. Both heard JESUS speak the same words; both were in pain; both thirsty and dying – what do you think made the difference in their approach (response) to JESUS?

Like I said, just curious. And preparing for Sunday School — 🙂

Will be thinking about you this weekend. Find your way to a place of corporate worshiping with other Bible believing-practicing Christians.

Follower of Christ. Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother. Some call me a teacher. Some say I'm a prayer warrior. A few accredit me with some writing skills. Me? I say I'm a work in slow progress, looking for perfection in eternity and until then having all the holy fun I know how.

  1. I have been both kinds over the course of my life. I never openly and verbally mocked Christ, but I certainly did with my actions. Thankfully, I am now more often the repentant thief…acknowledging my utter dependance and need of Christ.
