Prayers for We the People

Abba, how do we navigate these raging times of explosive racial conflict? I am certain this is not Your will. I am certain Your will is peace. I am certain You uniquely love us all whatever our color. You see hearts. You see motives. You see it all. You know it all; when horrendous things happen we only see what the Media wants us to see. We read what Journalists write; some we trust, some we don’t. This great darkness of men’s minds and souls alarms me. Common sense, even a hint of reason in many of the voices I hear, seems rare to me. I see a dearth of an ability to even look at facts and assimilate them into a working knowledge; even highly education people. The blindness to truth is epidemic; but You said it would be this way.

40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened and benumbed their [callous, degenerated] hearts [He has made their minds dull], to keep them from seeing with their eyes and understanding with their hearts and minds and repenting and turning to Me to heal them.

That people would call good, bad and bad, good. (Isaiah 5:20) I am so sorry. It hurts so much. I don’t want it to be this way. How can I help? Your wisdom is sorely needed, Abba, and You promised You would give to any who would ask. You said 5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all generously and without reproach; and it will be given to him. I am asking, Abba. I need Your wisdom. We are a needy people. Some of our streets are war zones, the atmosphere is filled with illogical thinking and sensationalism; some are obsessed with media attention. If only we as a people could be obsessed with pleasing You rather than craving the spotlight of the world. I am sick with what is happening when I know it is so needless, so unnecessary. We have messed up Your world beyond recognition, haven’t we? And people You love so much have refused You; some are still spitting in Your Face and yet You love them. Adonai, You are good and gracious and kind beyond any words I have. Please come and restore order to this world. Please come and grace us with Your gift of conviction and repentance. Please revive Your People, move us to conduct ourselves like Jesus. Bring a hunger and an insatiable thirst to Your people for Your Word. Cause us to pour over Your Word until it flows from us as a healing fountain to all caught in these unholy conflicts. I pray we will be wise as serpents and harmless as doves; I pray You will make Your People a bold voice of reason and truth, always in love but never coddling. I pray we will be neither offensive in conduct or apologetic when Your Word does offend; for surely Your Word will offend when the hearer chooses to disbelieve You.  I pray for mercy. I ask You to grant grace and space to repent for all of us in the Mighty and Holy Name of Jesus.  Amen

David encouraged himself in the LORD. I Samuel 30:6

At this address in Scripture, David and his men returned from battle finding no wives, no children and a charred camp. In their grief his men were ready to stone him. But David encouraged himself in the LORD.

6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. source 

We must do the same.

Proverbs 29:18 (CJB)

18 Without a prophetic vision, the people throw off all restraint;
    but he who keeps Torah is happy.

Though others throw off restraint, we must not. Through others reject the Law and the Spirit of GOD, we must not.

I know my FATHER is the Answer. I know obedience to His Word solves every problem. Yet people are blind.  HOLY SPIRIT, I pray for blinded eyes to open. 

The enemy is at work. He is accelerating his program; souls are trapped, some willingly, some duped.  . . .  for the devil has come down to you in great anger, knowing that he has little time.” source

I want to pray publicly here with you. I want us to come together devoted to prayer, strong in Spirit, strong in faith, strong in hope and courage, but tonight I can only rely on The Groanings of our Great Comforter. 

26 Similarly, the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we don’t know how to pray the way we should. But the Spirit himself pleads on our behalf with groanings too deep for words; (Romans 8:26)

The Loft – Fall Recipes

Fall Recipes is our topic at loftThe Loft today.

I’ve been thinking pumpkin for weeks now. Mainly because I have some img_8687canned organic pumpkin that needs using.

And I’ve been thinking about cooler temps, sweaters, (that’s about all we are going to need in Lower Alabama, unless it gets really cold), pots of chili, Mexican cornbread, fireplaces and hot cocoa. The older I get the more I enjoy the Fall. Cool nights and warm covers, family gatherings with food, chatter and laughter. Mix all these things in generous portions and you have my recipe for a Happy Fall! I suspect, however, that is not the recipe expected for sharing at The Loft today.

My chili recipe is not really a recipe, I just throw what I got that resembles chili ingredients in the pot till it feels right and we eat it. I’m not kidding.

Soup!
Oh, I do that the same way. Hmm!

How about Carrot Cake? JT always uses a recipe for that. He’s so exact. He has made it for years and each time he gets out that recipe and follows it exactly. He’s so cute!

Carrot Cake
by Betty Downey (she’s a long time friend, now spending all her time with JESUS)
SIFT TOGETHER:
2 cups plain flour
2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
2 cups sugar
2 t. cinnamon
ADD:
1 ½ cups cooking oil
4 large eggs (one at a time)
3 cups grated carrots
BEAT BY HAND FOR 15 MINUTES (not kidding! He sets a timer and beats that batter a full 15 minutes!)

Pour into 3 greased 8″ cake pans, bottoms lined with wax paper (comes out easier this way)
Bake at 350 degrees until cake tester comes out clean

Prepare ICING:
Cream together room temperature 8 oz. creamed cheese & 1 stick of butter
Then Add in
1 box confectioner’s sugar (slowly)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
2 t. milk if needed
Mix till creamy.  Lick the beaters while you wait for the cake layers to cool, then frost the cake. Store cake in Frig until you are ready to serve.

That’s it!

Motor Oil

A recent sermon is hanging with me. It was delivered by Dr. Millard Box. He’s 100 years young and has been preaching the Word of GOD for 85 years.

An amazing man! He says he looks for GOD in everything. And he gave us examples. Motor Oil stuck with me.

Motor oil. It eradicates friction he said.

The HOLY SPIRIT of GOD. He is the Supreme Oil that eradicates friction.

From Free Dictionary: Friction Conflict, as between persons having dissimilar ideas or interests; clash.

1 What is causing all the quarrels and fights among you? Isn’t it your desires battling inside you?

Friction!

And what will eradicate the friction?

1 Corinthians 12:13 (CJB)
13 For it was by one Spirit that we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free; and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Romans 15:6 (CJB)
6 so that with one accord and with one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
Acts 1:14 (CJB)
14 These all devoted themselves single-mindedly to prayer, along with some women, including Miryam (Yeshua’s mother), and his brothers.

 

Motor oil. Who would have thought getting an oil change in our cars could remind us of GOD?  Obviously, Dr. Box. I am so grateful for his way of looking at everyday things.

I’m going to be looking for my own motor oils today. :)
