Takes Practice

8 . . . Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.” Revelation 4 source

Day and night they never stop saying it.

Holy, holy, holy

He is eternal. GOD who was, GOD who is and GOD who always will be.

It’s a heavenly scene but it is written and preserved for our learning, not just for the future but for now I think. Today.

Today, if my life, not necessarily 24/7 speech, will say He is MY eternal GOD and He is holy, holy, holy, then there will not be much on this temporary planet that will trip me up. Takes practice.

I am comforted and challenged to think on this.

A Little Variety (to sing about)

Listening to some music this morning; a wide range like Higher by Unspoken God’s Not Dead by the Newsboys and It Will Be Worth It All sung by Charles Billingsley and his mother.

Read over these words; especially the chorus:  (do you remember singing it?)

It Will Be Worth It All
1. Sometimes the day seems long,
Our trials hard to bear.
We´re tempted to complain,
to murmur and despair.
But Christ will soon appear
to catch his bride away!
All tears forever over
in God’s eternal day!

CHORUS:
It will be worth it all
when we see Jesus!
Life’s trials will seem so small
when we see Christ.
One glimpse of his dear face,
all sorrow will erase.
So, bravely run the race
till we see Christ.

2. At times the sky seems dark,
with not a ray of light;
We’re tossed and driven on,
no human help in sight.
But there is One in heaven,
Who knows our deepest care;
Let Jesus solve your problems,
just go to him in prayer.

3. Life’s day will soon be o’re,
all storms forever past;
We’ll cross the great divide
to Glory, safe at last!
We’ll share the joys of heaven:
a harp, a home, a crown;
The tempter will be banished,
We’ll lay our burdens down.

And the others I mentioned? Take a listen.

Tight Beam

1 Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. source Galatians 6

My first attention was drawn to two words: anyone, any.

Anyone of us and any trespass.
We. Each of us. Any one of us is at risk to be overtaken in any trespass.

So, what is a trespass anyway? Study Light dot org says (in part) to deviate from the right path. Turn aside. Wander.

In our modern English, how about the word trespass?
What have we done when we trespass?
We might say we have wandered off to a place that is not ours; a place we do not have permission to be.

Are you getting this with me?

Anyone of us is at risk for wandering off to a place that we do not have permission from The Holy Spirit to be. And because of this, we have a command here in Galatians 6 to look out for one another and to keep a tight beam on ourselves as well.

May we each be strengthened today against any and every trespass.
