Well?

Have you ever wondered what’s up with all these rules (commands) that GOD handed down to humanity? I mean what’s the point? What’s He doing with this? Exercising His cosmic muscles to show us who’s boss? I know where that originated but that’s for another day’s musing.

Deuteronomy 6:24 So the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear [and worship] the Lord our God [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect] for our good always and so that He might preserve us alive, as it is today. source

Do you see it?

FOR OUR GOOD ALWAYS AND SO THAT HE MIGHT PRESERVE US ALIVE!

So! If we want to live and live well and see good; let us stop living like hell and do what HE says!

Well, isn’t that what it says?

Milk and Honey

Deuteronomy 6 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture.

Put your soul around it as you read these three verses.

Deuteronomy 6 AMP) “Now this is the command; the statutes and the judgments (precepts) which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, so that you might do (follow, obey) them in the land which you are crossing over [the Jordan] to possess,

so that you and your son and your grandson may fear and worship the Lord your God [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect], to keep [and actively do] all His statutes and His commandments which I am commanding you, all the days of your life, so that your days may be prolonged.

Therefore listen, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly [in numbers], as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.  source

What do you feel as you read?

Yes. We can feel the Bible.
We can experience the Author as we read.
The Bible is like no other book in the Universe.
The Bible is filled with promises that we can own, if we choose.

Read the verses again.

How many promises do you see in just these three verses?

Milk and Honey . . . only the beginning.

And what about milk and honey? What must there be for a land to flow with milk and honey? First, the flow means there is LOTS of it! Lots of milk. Lots of honey. For there to be lots of milk you have to have lots of livestock: cattle, sheep, and goats.  And to have lots of cattle, sheep, and goats you have to LOTS and LOTS of grass; lots of green pastures.  And to have lots of honey, what do you have to have? Yep. LOTS of flowers and veggies.  Get the picture? We are talking fertile, abundantly producing. Green. Lush. Bee tee full!  🙂

See what I mean? Dig in! Dig into the Scriptures and let the Milk and Honey flow!

I probably should save this post for tomorrow. But I’m not. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Happy Thursday!

I Do

This verse was penned to the Nation of Israel before they entered the Land He promised them.

Deuteronomy 4:For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God [is to us] whenever we call on Him?   source

Yet today as the Church of the Living Christ can we not appropriate it? Will you call on Him today with me for this Nation that we may again take Him as our GOD?

Recipes and King James

King James puts it this way:

James 1:22 (KJV) 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.   source

Just a bit ago hubby asked what’s for lunch. I said I’ll have to think about it.

James 1:22 KWT paraphrasing: Reading, looking, collecting a bi-jillion recipes and then pulling a frozen pizza from the freezer to cook for lunch. That’s a hearer but not a doer.

PostScript.

Lunch 🙂

Blanks

Blank screens.

Writers fear blank screens. They say such cruel things to the one sitting before them.

I’ve been known to type gibberish on mine to drown the noise. . . like now.

I took a nap today. It felt good at the time but now . . . Well, it’s nearly 11:00 pm and here I sit!

With a blank screen.

So, shall we pray?

Father GOD, when we draw a blank, help us draw on YOUR Strength, YOUR love and guidance that You are so willing to give us. Thank You that You are never blank. You always know what we need and You are always ready to give as we come and ask. Thank You. So for any dear soul that reads my blank screen or is experiencing one of their own, thank You for encouraging us and thank You for giving us a new and/or renewed vision. Thank You for the courage and the strength to press on through blank screens, or emptiness of every kind that may be looming. Thank You that YOU never leave us or forsake for JESUS’s sake.

1 Peter 5:casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].  source
