Follower of Yeshua. Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother. Some call me a teacher. Some say I'm a prayer warrior. A few accredit me with some writing skills. Me? I say I'm a work in slow progress, looking for perfection in eternity and until then having all the holy fun I know how.

Haughty Eyes

Perhaps before we get too far into this new year of 2012 we would remind ourselves that we are loved by the Holy God of the Universe.  And that He is in truth holy and in His holiness there are things that He abhors.  Things of which we do not want to partake; things with which we do not want to corrupt and pollute this new year stretching long before us.

Go with me to Proverbs 6:16-19

Proverbs 6:16-19 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
16 There are six things which the LORD hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Today, haughty eyes. That’s what caught my ‘eye’ first. :) We can count them down, seven things our God hates. Yea, these seven things are even an abomination to Him.

An abomination. It is what it is. Virtually our English language, even in the Hebrew and Greek languages, we are hard pressed to come up with an understanding of the awfulness of this word abomination.  Let the Greek speak:
Definition (as found at click here)

  1. to render foul, to cause to be abhorred
  2. abominable
  3. to turn one’s self away from on account of the stench
  4. metaph. to abhor, detest

To turn one’s self away from on account of the stench. Do we kind of get the idea here what it means for our Gracious and Loving God to say a thing is an abomination to Him?

Turns Himself away from because the stench of it so repulses Him.
That my, Friend, is what we do not want!
To be sure JESUS knows what that means! Since HE experienced it in our place IF we have chosen to accept His Sacrifice on our behalf. (Matthew 27:46) And souls who have refused His Sacrifice and who continue in that refusal then someday shall experience being an abomination to the God of this Universe. But back to today’s point.

Haughty eyes.

So what are haughty eyes anyway?  The best in research that I could glean is this:

‘Eyes that look and say I have made a good life for myself and I have done it without You, God.’

That’s clear to me. I see it. I understand that it would be better for me to have no eyes than have haughty eyes.
Can a Christian even have haughty eyes anyway? What do you think?

Palembang, Indonesia

I am continuing my World Evangelism Prayer effort here in 2012.

For the month of January, Palembang, Indonesia is my focus.

How about a little info on Palembang? (click HERE to visit the site from which the excerpt below was taken.)

Palembang is the capital city of South Sumatra Province in Indonesia. Palembang is one of the oldest cities in Indonesia with a lot of history as a capital of a maritime empire. Located on the Musi River banks on the east coast of southern Sumatra island, it has an area of 400.61 square kilometres and a population of 1,441,500. Palembang is the second-largest city in Sumatra after Medan and the seventh-largest city in Indonesia. The city will host the 26th edition of Southeast Asian Games in November 11, 2011 along with Jakarta.

One million, four hundred forty-one thousand, five hundred people! And the majority of them are not Christian. I think my prayers will not be wasted. Neither would yours be if you would join me here in the month of January to pray however the HOLY SPIRIT leads you for this densely populated place occupied mostly with people given to Islam.

To read about Palembang’s arts and culture, click HERE. Within the tabs (pages) of that URL address you will find a plethora of information.

My heart was made tender when I read of Mercy Relief and the work they are doing there for special needs children. Click HERE to read.

There is much more Palembang information in web land to be explored but I will close this post mentioning Ken Raggio. It seems he is passionate to encourage and enlist the people of Palembang to study The Bible, to come to know JESUS CHRIST as Savior and LORD.  Click HERE to visit his webpage.

I hope many of you will join me praying for the people of Palembang, Indonesia.

Praying for the World,

Mouse Clicking

Some clicks of the mouse are fatal. That one hasty, unguarded click just cuts you off, closes down the page and there’s no going back. Can you relate? When the page is gone and the back arrow is no longer an option, well … all you can do is start over. Call that original page up again and wait for it to load.

This is a hurry up society. And I am as guilty as the next, probably more so. Some years ago when I was building a website, those in the know, counseled me it was wise to construct the page so it would take no longer than 10 seconds to fully load because people would not wait any longer than that to see the page. Truth? Today, 10 seconds is too long. More truth? Unless I am REALLY interested in the page, I won’t wait longer than 2 to 3 seconds – how sad is that???

And it is that got to have it now, cannot – will not wait clicking, that is undermining our lives, families, churches, and our Nation. Just who do we think we are that we have to have now? That we cannot wait? Will not wait? That we cannot give it some thought (SOME PRAYER) before we leap? Would just another second to be sure before we click that mouse be so intolerable?  Well, would it?

What’s that old adage? Haste makes waste. Is that the truth or what?!  Be it the click of the mouse on a webpage or sin? The hasty web-click steals time. Sin steals much more!!

Think a second before you buy that purse on credit you can’t afford.
Think a second before you say that string of words.
Think a second before you get all flattered at that married man’s attention.
Think a second before you pass on that information – even as a prayer request.
Think a second before you _______________________.

I am counseling myself to slow down a second or two before I go clicking my mouse here and there. Perhaps slowing down a second or two in some other areas would save lives, families, churches and our Nation a whole lot of waste.

Whatcha think?

Anything you need to slow down a bit before you waste something precious?

Romans 12: New American Standard Bible (NASB)
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
