Go To

Have you ever worried over what another thinks of you? Me too!

I think I’ve heard it before, but I heard it again with freshness this morning!

“What another thinks of you is none of your business – but it is GOD’s – what they think and you think. So stop messing around in His business and mind your own mind with His.”

Philippians 4: (CSB) 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. source

1 Peter 1: (NASB) 13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.   source

And You Version was messing with me too with this from Carol McLeod: “Every single one of us has spoken words “under the influence” of warped feelings and slurred thinking. And we soon wish we had the magical power to take those words back. It’s our thoughts and emotions that determine what words come out of our mouths.”

So at the prompting of the devotional, I have this mission: What Bible verse can I use to help me declutter my mind and keep it in sync with the mind of The Father?”

What verses do you go to when your mind rebels?

Question

11 Loved ones, I urge you as strangers and sojourners to keep away from the fleshly cravings that war against the soul. 12 Keep your conduct honorable among the Gentiles. Then while they speak against you as evildoers, they may—from noticing your good deeds—glorify God in the day of visitation.   I Peter TLV source

Question. If we speak, if we sing, if we dance,  if we drink, if we eat, if we entertain ourselves, if we clothe ourselves LIKE the people of the world – Hollywood, Washington, New York, Vegas, New Orleans, Chicago — all the HOT SPOTS of the world, how can we enjoy the reward of obedience to  this WORD?

How can we call ourselves unspotted by the world? James 1:27

Don’t misread me please. This is NOT a list of don’t(s). It’s a glorious invitation to BE. Be different. Be favored. Be odd, even!  Be so above normal that people suspect you have been with JESUS.

Acts 4: (TLV) 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and figured out they were laymen without training, they were amazed. They began to realize that these men had been with Yeshua. source

Constant

Approximate reading time: 1 minute

Crucial!

1 Peter 4:8  (TLV) Above all, keep your love for one another constant, for “love covers a multitude of sins.” source

Writing from experience, I attest to this verse of Holy Writ.

Have you ever loved someone but you did not cover their sins with your love?  When we choose to let love  be NOT constant as the TLV reads, disappointments do become constant. Even their jokes aren’t funny any more.  Know what I mean?

And then the LIGHT comes gently dawning and the whole landscape is bright and beautiful.  Not all the disappointments disappear but — constant love covers them and the jokes are funny again.  It’s called forgiveness.  Love forgives and constant love keeps on forgiving.
